“Hotel Granvia Kyoto” is located next to Kyoto Station. It is a convenient hotel not only for sightseeing in Kyoto but also for sightseeing in other prefectures such as Osaka and Kobe.
The hotel is built above Kyoto Station and it was very big. The hotel had presence with windows all over the building.
The front desk was big and the staff worked very fast, so I did not have to wait in line to check-in.
The atmosphere was nice and the room was better than I expected. The staff carried my luggage to the room, and also carefully explained about the hotel, such as the location of the ice machine and so on.

RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto
“RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto” is conveniently located a 7-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station. There are a variety of restaurant and an indoor pool with a jacuzzi. You can spend a comfortable time at this hotel with friendly staff who will take care of you throughout your stay.
The exterior was a chic Japanese style building. It had just been renovated and it looked beautiful.
Like the exterior and entrance, the lobby also had a very Japanese atmosphere. There were plenty of sofas to sit on, so I did not mind waiting.
There were two semi-double beds and a another bed for my child, but there was still plenty of space in the room. The bed was comfortable to sleep on, and my back did not hurt even after sleeping.

Hotel Monterey Kyoto

Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station
“Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station” is a hotel that just opened in August, 2019. It is built in a convenient location which is just a few minutes walk from JR Kyoto Station. They focus on the beauty of Kyo and tea in Kyoto.
The lobby was calm, making me forget that I was near a busy station. There was a stylish area with arm chairs facing the window.
The hotel has just been open, so the room was very beautiful. The room, inspired by tea ceremony rooms, was modern Japanese style which was very stylish.
This is a concept room in collaboration with Kyoto Denim called the Kyoto Denim Room. The shoji is painted with Kyoto Yuzen dye.

Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto
“Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto” is conveniently located in the central area of Kawaramachi and Karasuma, a 5-minute walk from Shijo Subway Station. This 5-star hotel has been awarded three Michelin Guide pavilions (black) for five consecutive years since 2014, as well as various other awards.
The hotel is located off the main street, so it was very quiet.
There was a staircase in front of the entrance, and it was a structure not seen often in ordinary hotels. In addition, there were luxurious chandeliers and fountains, and it was a European-style luxury hotel.
The room was a spacious European style room. It was cleaned very well and was comfortable to spend time in.

Mitsui Garden Hotel Shinmachi Bettei
“Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei” is located on Shinmachidori, where the old townscape remains. It is located a 7-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Subway Karasuma Line and a 7-minute walk from Karasuma Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line, and also easily accessible and convenient to get to Kyoto Station and Arashiyama. This is a modern Japanese retreat hotel that has been listed in the Michelin Guide for the fifth consecutive year and has won the Good Design Award.
The exterior is Japanese-style was both like an inn and a hotel. The shop curtain hanging at the entrance was very stylish.
The view of the garden seen from the lobby was very nice.
The room was slightly dark with dimmed lights. The windows had shoji screens, and the hanging scroll-like decorations near the windows which were fashionable.

Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Ekimae
“Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Ekimae” is a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station Central Exit, a convenient location for sightseeing and for business. This is a new hotel that opened on May 1, 2019, and you can spend a luxurious time in the hotel.
The hotel had a private feel to it even though it was in the middle of the city. The garden at the entrance was very beautiful.
The “Comfort Double Room” had a tatami space at the back which was a little unusual. There was a beautiful art above the headboard creating a nice atmosphere.
There is a restaurant on the first floor, serving coffee 24 hours a day, tea and sweets in the afternoon, alcohol at night, and porridge at midnight, and many people were enjoying themselves at the restaurant.

Daiwa Royal Hotel Grande Kyoto
“Daiwa Royal Hotel Grande Kyoto” is a new and beautiful hotel that opened in June 2018. It is located a 5-minute walk away from Hachijo Exit of Kyoto Station. The hotel is a flagship hotel of Daiwa Royal Hotel City, with a stylish design that emphasizes the style of Kyoto and a multilingual support of 9 languages.
Part of the hotel is 9-stories and the other part is 6-stories tall. It was a stylish hotel. The hotel did not look big from afar, but as I got closer, it had more presence. The name of the hotel at the top of the building was visible from Kyoto Station, making it easy to find.
The lobby was very open with modern and stylish decorations that emphasized the traditional beauty of Japan. The big LED screen behind the front desk reflects the view of cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and colorful Kyoto, and the ceiling had a design with golden writings.
The room was a Japanese style with modern design based on purple. It was a large room with a nice and calm atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable to sleep on.

THE JUNEI HOTEL Kyoto Imperial Palace West
“THE JUNEI HOTEL Kyoto Imperial Palace West” is a small luxury hotel listed in the Michelin Guide. You can enjoy the style of “Kyoto” in a hotel with the best quality beds, BGM playing in the background, hydrogen bath in a custom-made Shigaraki tub and so on.
The inn is located right by Horikawa Dori, but the surrounding area is a residential area, so I felt like I was visiting a friend’s house.
The room was very big! There was a tatami room in front of the bed, and I liked the Japanese-Western style. Little decorations here and there were Japanese-style, but the atmosphere was modern. There was also relaxing music playing in the room
This is the hydrogen bath of Shigaraki, which is one of the special points about this hotel.

Hot Spring & Private SPA RURINOHAMA
“Hot Spring & Private SPA RURINOHAMA” has villas that are inspired by Kyomachiya. They have a kitchen, living room, Japanese-style room and a bedroom that is suitable for staying as a large group. Facilities such as courtyard pool and natural hot spring, and botanical amenities are also enriched.
The room was 3LDK (4.5-tatami Japanese-style room, 6-tatami Japanese-style room, twin-bed Western-style room, living/dining room) that was 230 square meters big. The average number of guests staying in this room is 6 people, but it was alright for extra numbers of people to stay if you pay an extra fee.
There was a private pool with a diameter of 8m and was divided into three levels. You can also rent a BBQ stove if you like. It is a very private space.
There was a private hot spring which was very nice to be able to stay in as long as a liked. It was a complete replacement of the rare Akayu natural hot spring, which replaces hot water sent from the source daily.

La Viola
“La Viola” is a new and beautiful hotel that opened in October, 2019 in the center of Kyoto. Even though it is in Kyoto, it was more like a European boutique hotel, and all 12 rooms had different designs. This adult-only hotel has a 24-hour free lounge.
The room was a luxurious room with 75 square meters and you can go up to the roof as well.
On the rooftop, there was a heart-shaped jacuzzi on a wooden deck. You will have to get into the jacuzzi with a swimsuit, but it was very nice to have a private jacuzzi.
One of the features of this hotel is a lounge that is open all day. Thai furniture called “Kenkoon” was used and there was also a library. It was a quiet space with music playing quietly in the background. Drinks such as alcohol, and snacks were provided for free.

The GrandWest Arashiyama
“The Grand West Arashiyama” is located in Arashiyama, Kyoto, in a quiet and relaxing area, but still closet to many sightseeing spots. The rooms renovated from the condominiums are all suites, and are a comfortable space. This hotel is a 10-minute walk to Togetsukyo Bridge, Arashiyama and is the best location for exploring Kyoto.
The hotel was located off the busy sightseeing areas in Arashiyama and it stood out from all the homes, because it was in a residential area.
This room can accommodate up to 5 people and was 52 square meters in size with a living room, bedroom and tatami area, so it was very spacious.
The restaurant on the first floor called the “CROSS Burger & Beer/Coffee” has the same management as the hotel, and was named “CROSS” in the sense that people can interact with each other. A black bun infused with bamboo charcoal with a patty made with 100% Kyoto black beef Hirai beef has become No. 1 in the west area of Kyoto on TripAdvisor. It was very delicious.

Kyoto Crystal Hotel Ⅲ
“Kyoto Crystal Hotel Ⅲ” is a 10 minute walk from JR Kyoto Station which was very convenient. In addition, it was easy to catch a taxi and get to many sightseeing destinations easily. It is a very reasonable hotel for its convenience.
The entrance was lit up with warm colors creating a nice atmosphere. It was Japanese style which matched the concept of Kyoto.
The room was simple and only had minimal facilities, but there was no particular inconvenience. The bed was comfortable to sleep on.
There was a nice Japanese design above the beds.
