One of the reasons why I decided to stay at "Hotel Granvia Kyoto" was because of the good location. Because the hotel is located next to Kyoto Station, which is also said to be the gateway to Kyoto, it is easy to access to other prefectures such as Osaka, Hyogo, Shiga, and it is the most suitable for us who plan to visit Osaka the next day. I had a dinner reservation at this hotel, so it was convenient to be able to walk straight back to my room after having dinner. Guests staying at this hotel can get a discount for the restaurant, so I was able to catch two birds with one stone.

The hotel is built above Kyoto Station and it was very big. The hotel had presence with windows all over the building.
The entrance was not as impactful as the whole building, but it was clean and gorgeous.

The lobby was lively, with people coming and going, both young and old.
The front desk was big and the staff worked very fast, so I did not have to wait in line to check-in.

What is the Standard Single Room like?
The staff brought my luggage up to my room which was very considerate of them.
My first impression was that the room was very spacious.
The staff kindly gave me instructions about the room which was very nice of her.
The atmosphere was nice and the room was better than I expected.
The bed was a twin and there was plenty of space for one person to lay down.
The bed was not too hard and not too soft and I was able to sleep very well.

There was no terrace or balcony in the room I stayed this time. The view from this room was not very good. I could only see the roof of Kyoto Station. However, some rooms overlook Kyoto Tower and the city of Kyoto, so the view is different depending on which room you stay in.

The bathroom was clean and just the right size.
The bathtub was clean and did not have a bad smell. It was not particularly big, but it was enough space to relax.
The water pressure of the shower was just right for me.

Amenities included shampoo, conditioner, body soap, cleansing, face wash, toothbrush, hairbrush, leather, comb, swab, hairband, shower cap, soap, slippers, dryer, bathrobe, and so on.
The shampoo and conditioner smelled very nice and felt nice on my hair.

This time, I had a dinner reservation at the restaurant in the hotel. It was a tempura restaurant and the food was delicious. In addition, there are various other restaurants in the hotel.

The hotel is at Kyoto Station, so there were department stores, commercial facilities and restaurants near by. There are many izakayas around as well, so it is a place suitable for those who like to drink. There was also a convenience store nearby which was convenient.

Transportation was very good. Because the hotel is adjacent to Kyoto Station, it is easy to get to various places such as Osaka, Hyogo and Shiga. Also, because the bullet train stops at this station, even those who are tired of traveling can check in to the hotel immediately.

Staff and guests
The staff were very courteous and helpful. I was kindly instructed about the elevator and the room, and they were helpful about taking my luggage up to my room.
There were various age groups, from foreigners to seniors, couples and families staying at this hotel. I was impressed that there were many foreigners, especially in Kyoto. This hotel is suitable for sightseeing and even for those who are on a business trip.

Summary
I had a nice stay at “Hotel Granvia Kyoto.” This time I decided to stay for sightseeing, but I wanted to use it other than sightseeing because of the convenient transportation. The first day of sightseeing in Kyoto and spending one night at the hotel, the second day there is a wide range of choices including Osaka sightseeing and Kobe sightseeing. In addition, it is possible to get to downtown Kyoto, Kawaramachi and Gion in about 10 minutes by bus or subway, so it is a hotel that has very good transportation.
The hotel is clean, so I was able to spend a very comfortable time. The staff were polite and helpful and it was a perfect hotel to stay at in my opinion. I would love to stay here again.
