Detailed review & photos “Daiwa Royal Hotel Grande Kyoto”

Part of the hotel is 9-stories and the other part is 6-stories tall. It was a stylish hotel. The hotel did not look big from afar, but as I got closer, it had more presence. The name of the hotel at the top of the building was visible from Kyoto Station, making it easy to find.

There was a small Japanese garden in front of the hotel.

There was a passage leading to the entrance.

There is another entrance other than the main entrance which you can get to straight form the hotel.

The entrance had a double door.

The lobby was very open with modern and stylish decorations that emphasized the traditional beauty of Japan.

Everywhere in the hotel was decorated Japanese style.

The big LED screen behind the front desk reflects the view of cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and colorful Kyoto, and the ceiling had a design with golden writings.

The room was a Japanese style with modern design based on purple. It was a large room with a nice and calm atmosphere.

The bed was a Simmons bed with a mattress that was not too hard and not too soft. It was very comfortable to sleep on.

The Japanese style art hung above the bed was very stylish.

There were outlets, USB ports, and light switches on both sides of the bed.

The TV was 60 inches big.

There was an outlet and a USB port on the bedside table. There was a mirror on the wall, and I could sit here to do my makeup.

The view from the room. The view is not particularly great because there are buildings of the same height as the hotel nearby, but I could see Kyoto Tower on the other side of Kyoto Station.

The bathroom was on the left side of the entrance.

Bathtub/wash area, sink and toilet were all separated.

The sink was spacious.

Amenities included a toothbrush set, razor & gel, hairbrush, shower cap, hair elastic, cotton set, body towel, toe pad, etc.

L’Occitane soap.

L’Occitane shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.

There was a bathtub and a wash area.

There was a rain shower and a removable hand shower. Water pressure was just right and I was able to shower comfortably.

There was Laura Ashley’s shampoo, conditioner, and body soap prepared int he bathroom. It had a gentle sweet scent.

I was able to relax in the bathtub.

The toilet is across the sink.

The toilet had a Washlet function.

The closet was on the left side of the entrance.

I was able to hang long dresses and coats without having to worry about them touching the floor. Deodorant spray, shoe horn, shoe polish, clothes brush were also in the closet.

There were colorful yukatas in the drawer.

In bottom drawer was a safe.

There was tea, water, two types of coffee capsules and Uji matcha capsules. In addition to the coffee machine, there was a matcha machine as well. There were also sweets prepared.

On the lower shelf were tea cups, coffee cup, glasses, ice bucket, and an electric kettle.

There was a fridge in this cabinet.

There was nothing inside.

Because it was a staying on the executive floor, I was able to use the executive lounge on the 9th floor which is the top floor.

I was able to check-in and out at this desk.

The view from the large windows was nice and it was a spacious and quiet lounge.

The lounge was open from 7am to 10pm and there were drinks and tea available at all times. During the cocktail hour which is from 17:00 to 19:30, there were various kinds of alcohols provided.

Cheese, fruit, salad and bread.

I had breakfast at a restaurant called “La Terrazza” on the first floor.

It was a restaurant with a lot of seats, but it was quiet and calm. There was also a terrace seating.

Breakfast was buffet style.

There were some Italian style dishes such as ham and cheese.

There was a live kitchen where they will cook your eggs in front of you.

A vending machine on the guest room floors that also sells beer.

It was a little over 10 minutes on foot to Shiokoji Bridge on the downstream side of Kamogawa.

The area along the Kamogawa River is paved and you can take a walk. It was about 30 minutes on foot from Shiokoji Bridge to the central Shijo Bridge.

It was about 10 minutes on foot to Kyoto Tower which was on the other side of the station.

There were many guests from overseas. I saw some Asians, but I think there were more European and American people. I did not see any children in the hotel.
