I chose "Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Ekimae," because it is reasonable, the rooms are big, is close to Kyoto Station. I started searching three days before my stay, so I didn't have many options, but I decided to stay here because I am a member of the Richmond Hotel. This is a better hotel than I expected and I am very satisfied.
What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception
The hotel is so simple on the outside, even the taxi driver drove by it.
The hotel had a private feel to it even though it was in the middle of the city.
Hotel sign on the side of the road.
The entrance is at the back.
There was a garden at the entrance.
Entrance.
There were sofas facing the garden which was very nice.
There was a front desk at the back that was not very big, so I had to wait a bit. However, the staff were polite and very helpful.

What is the Comfort Double like?
There was a closet in front of the entrance and the bedroom on the left.
The bedroom seen from the entrance.
A trouser presser and a humidifier by the closet.
There were blinds to separate the hallway and the bedroom.
There was a tatami space at the back of the room which was a little unusual.
The bed was a queen-size bed 160cm wide, so I could sleep very well. It was very comfortable to sleep on. The mattress was rather hard in my opinion.
Night ware prepared on the bed.
There was a beautiful art above the bed.
There was a refrigerator in front of the Japanese-style room, and there was a phone, memo set, tissue and a smartphone above it.
A small tatami space next to the bed.
Two chairs and a table on the tatami.
The view was not particularly great from the window by the tatami space.

Bathroom
There was a bathtub and wash area, toilet, and sink all separated. Because it was a new hotel, it was shiny and clean everywhere and could be used everything comfortably. The bathroom is Japanese style with a bathtub and a washing area, and the washing area is spacious. Water pressure of the shower was strong enough and easy to use.
The sink was outside the bathroom.
Amenities were prepared under the sink. Amenities included toothbrush, swab, brush, shaver, after shaving groom, shaving cream, body towel and mouthwash. I think it is a standard set of the Richmond Hotel. You can get bath salt, makeup remover, and lotion at the front desk.
A toilet with a Washlet function.

Closet and safe
There was an open closet at the entrance. There were hangers and a deodorant spray.
In addition, there was a baggage rack, clothes brush, shoe horn, slippers, and a safe. I did not like the fact that the safe is visible from the entrance.

Mini bar and cafe
A refrigerator was set up in a storage shelf in front of the Japanese-style room. There was nothing in the refrigerator. An electric kettle, a cup and tea bags were prepared on the side. There was no coffee, but I was able to have coffee at the restaurant for free 24 hours a day. There is also a service where you can drink alcohol in the evening, have tea late at night, and tea and sweets in the afternoon.
There were two free bottles of water, glasses and Japanese style cups prepared on the table.

Restaurants and shops in the hotel
There is a restaurant on the first floor, serving coffee 24 hours a day, tea and sweets in the afternoon, alcohol at night, and porridge at midnight, and many people were enjoying themselves at the restaurant.
The restaurant seen from the garden.
I had breakfast at the restaurant.
I had a variety of Kyoto style dishes.
Everything tasted very nice.

Hotel Surroundings
The hotel is very close to Kyoto Station, so you will not have to worry about finding a place to shop and dine. It is a convenient place where you can play until late at night and return to the hotel without using any transportation. The hotel was facing a big street, but it was quiet inside the hotel. The room that I stayed in was along the street, but no noise bothered me.

Staff and Guests
The staff at the front desk were Japanese. When I checked in and got on the elevator, the staff guided me to the elevator and opened the door for me which was very helpful. Half of the staff at the restaurant were foreigners, but it was not a problem at all.
90% of the customers were tourists, but everyone was very calm. There were more Europeans than Asians. I saw guests with children, but not many.

Access
It is about an 8 minute walk from Kyoto Station to the hotel. It is on the prosperous north side of Kyoto Station, but not so noisy because it is slightly off the busy streets. It is close to the bus terminal and there are quite taxis, so I think it is a very accessible place for those who are staying to go sightseeing.

Summary
I had a nice stay at this hotel. There were four things I liked about the hotel. The first is that the room had a tatami space. It was very relaxing. I think it may be good for those who visited Japan for the first time. The second thing is that there was a large bathroom with separate bath and toilet. The third is hospitality at various times in the restaurant. I went there for coffee and rice porridge and it was very delicious. The fourth thing is breakfast. There were quite a lot of variations, and there were a lot of Kyoto style dishes. It was cooked very well and delicious. I ordered the tempura and they fried it after I made my order. There are a wide variety of snacks and other types of food, and I think that they were able to handle people of all ages and nationalities. I had a very enjoyable stay and would love to stay here again.
