The hotel is a sophisticated and modern space where you can feel the traditional beauty of Japan, and the hotel is equipped with a thermal spring SPA that uses natural hot spring water that springs from the basement of the site. What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception
The hotel is located across the road from Nijo Castle East Otemon, and is located on the site of the Mitsui General Family, which has existed for over 250 years. Since it is a hotel built in a historic place, the exterior looks like a mansion, and the impressive gate at the entrance seems to have been restored and reproduced from the Kajii Miyamon, which was once owned by the Mitsui family.
If you go down the gate, you will find the hotel entrance.
The entrance has a double door, and as soon as you enter, there is a reception counter on your right, and the staff will guide you.
Front desk
The lobby lounge is an open space overlooking the courtyard with a lot of sofas and tables, and it was crowded during the time, so first I was guided to have tea and relaxed check-in procedure.
Large fresh flowers of autumn leaves are displayed in the center of the lounge, and it was the season of the beginning of autumn leaves, so it was a nice atmosphere familiar with the courtyard that began to color.
The windows of the lounge could be fully opened and closed on arrival, but the next morning when the weather was nice and warm, it was open and it was a comfortable open-air space directly connected to the courtyard.
There was a library space.
There was also a tea room on the other side.
Lobby floor elevator hall.
Guest room floor elevator hall.
Hallway leading to other elevator that will take you to the elevator for the guest rooms.
There is a door in the guest room area on the 1st floor, and it opens when you hold the card key over the sensor.

Restaurants and Shops in the Hotel
The bar & lounge “THE GARDEN BAR” on the 1st floor is connected to an Italian restaurant, and it was a chic space surrounded by soft lighting.
The restaurant and bar was built around the courtyard, and you could enjoy a drink while looking out at the illuminated courtyard from the large windows, and enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable time.
There is a wide variety of drinks, and they also have Yamazaki whiskey that is hard to find.
Gastronomy iron plate on the 1st floor “Toki-TOKI-.”
Breakfast was served at the “FORNI.”
Breakfast was served as a set, and this is the Japanese set.
You can choose from 3 types of sets, and I chose Western food.
You can order egg dishes to your liking.
The “Four Seasons” which faces the courtyard can be used not only as a place for hospitality such as tea parties and entertainment parties, but also as a private room for the restaurant.

Facilities in the Hotel
There is “Thermal Spring SPA” on the 1st basement floor.
“Thermal spring” which uses a natural hot spring that springs in the basement of the hotel grounds, can be used by wearing a swimsuit. It’s about the size of a small pool, the lighting is dark and the lights swaying on the surface of the water are comfortable, especially since I aimed for a small number of people, there is only one other group, a quiet space where only the sound of water echoes. I was able to relax in the hot spring.
The hotel’s original menu, SPA treatments, and private hot springs are also available on the first basement floor.
The gym is spacious and equipped with a variety of machines.
There was a library space in the lobby with a computer.
Tea room.
You can have tea here.
The hotel has a garden of approximately 1,300 square meters surrounded by the hotel. There is also a large basin in the garden where you can go out freely. I was able to take a walk in the garden, which has a Kyoto-like atmosphere integrated with the building, and I was able to spend a relaxing time.
It was lit up at night, and I enjoyed the beautiful scenery different from the daytime.

Hotel Surroundings
The hotel is located in front of the world heritage site Nijo Castle Higashi Otemon. It is very close to sightseeing spots and is also in the central area of Kyoto, so there are many restaurants in the area, so I think it is a convenient place to eat and move around.

Staff and Guests
The staff were all polite and pleasant to interact with. It took a while for check-in and check-out, and the turndown service time was late, probably because the hotel just opened, but the response was good and there was no particular problem. There was a wide range of customers, but I got the impression that there were many elderly couples and families with children, probably because it was a holiday.

Access
It is about a 15-minute taxi ride from Kyoto Station, a 3-minute walk from Nijojo-mae Station on the Tozai Subway Line, and a 10-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station on the Karasuma Subway Line. It is very close to Nijo Castle and there are other popular spots within walking distance, so I think it is a good location for access.

Summary
I had a nice stay at the “HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO Luxury Collection Hotel & Spa.” The inside of the hotel is a sophisticated space where you can feel the traditional beauty of Japan, and it was very comfortable luxury hotel. The hotel is built around the courtyard, so you can enjoy a relaxing and elegant stay with a view of the quaint garden from every room, lobby or restaurant. I think it was good to have a room on the courtyard side. The thermal springs were comfortable and the SPA area was very nice, so if I have a chance to stay next time, I would like to use a private hot spring and SPA treatment. I was able to enjoy an elegant and relaxing time in a place where you can feel the history. It is a wonderful hotel that I definitely want to stay again.
