Hotel Shuttle Boat

From Saphan Thaksin BTS (elevated train) station to the boat station on Chao Phraya River, a boat exclusively for guests of Peninsula will pick you up. The dock is also used by the Mandarin Oriental guests, so you will have to tell the staff that you are staying at the Peninsula Hotel.

Hotel Surroundings

I traveled around the city by car, but I did not see any homeless people on the streets and it seemed like a safe neighborhood. There were no shops around the hotel, so you will need to get across the river to go shopping and so on.

Staff and Guests

I asked to make a reservation at the spa and the staff told me that there was an opening on the last day, but called me after 10 minutes to tell me that they were fully booked after all. I was able to make a reservation after all, but I wished that they would be more careful.
As for the guests, I saw a small groups of Westerners and families in the lounge, pool and restaurants.

Access

It said on the website that it takes about an hour to the hotel from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the hotel, but I got caught in traffic and arrvide at the hotel in two hours after all. If you cross the Chao Phraya River on the free shuttle boat from the hotel, there was BTS (Elevated Railway) Saphan Thaksin Station on the opposite bank, and also a department store called Robinson. There were many tourists in the area.

IMG_0526 (44)

The department store is not big, but there was a supermarket in the basement. There was also a McDonald’s open 24 hours on the first floor, so I didn’t feel any inconvenience even though it was on the opposite bank from the hotel.

Summary

I would love to stay at this hotel again. Traveling by boat to get to the opposite shore excited me. Above all, I never got tired of the night view from my room. The cruise ships passing by the hotel, the cars on the bridge, everything about the scenery was perfect. There was a refrigerator, TV stand and printer with fax machine in the drawer of the work desk which was very convenient to have. This classical design made me feel as if I was in a movie. This time, I did not get a chance to eat at any of the restaurants, but next time I would love to have dinner at the Chinese restaurant “Maijang.”
