Detailed review & photos “Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel and Towers”

There is a Chao Phraya Express pier right next to the hotel, so I used this to get to the hotel.

Since the hotel opened in 1982, there are some parts that seem a little old, but the appearance that rises along the Chao Phraya River is beautiful.

Before the spread of the coronavirus there were many buses for Chinese tourists in front of the hotel, but now there are only a few foreign tourists staying overnight.

The lobby was very big, and the front desk was on the left side of the entrance.

When I was waiting in line to check in, the person in charge who was free came all the way to call me. The hospitality was impressive.

There were many Thai displays in the lobby.

There were also many colorful elephant objects.

There was a lounge in the corner of the lobby.

It was a relaxing lounge with sofas to sit on.

There was a full length mirror on the right and a bathroom and cafe corner on the left.

I was expecting a lot from the room because it is a 5 star hotel, but probably because it is also an old hotel it was not as luxurious as I expected. Also, due to the spread of coronavirus infection, I felt that the guest had not stayed for a while, the remote control of the TV was covered with dust, and it had not been used for a while. Also, the size of the room was a little smaller than expected. However, I think it was good as an overall satisfaction.

The bed was king size so it was big enough. Also, I personally don’t like soft beds, but this one was reasonably stiff and comfortable to sleep on. There were a total of 4 pillows on the bed.

There was a TV and a desk across the bed.

The 55 inch TV was big.

You can also sit in the armchair and enjoy the view.

The floor to ceiling window was very big.

For my stay in Bangkok, I personally think that the view along the Chao Phraya River is very special, and I was able to enjoy a wonderful view from my room.

It’s great to see the boats passing by, the sunset on the Thonburi side, the night view and the Chao Phraya River. I couldn’t see ICONSIAM from the room I stayed in, but I think that if you can see the direction of ICONSIAM, you can enjoy the view in a different way.

There was a bathtub, sink and toilet all in the same room.

I was able to relax in the bathtub.

The shower was a height-adjustable and removable hand shower, and I was able to take a shower comfortably without any problems with water pressure or temperature control. However, it took a long time for the hot water to come out, probably because there had not been many guests staying at this hotel.

Shampoo, conditioner and body soap were provided next to the shower.

Traditionally, Thai toilets have Thai-style washlet water guns, but in recent years, water guns are no longer installed in department stores and hotel toilets, which I personally find inconvenient. It was a little disappointing that there was no water gun here either.

Amenities such as a toothbrush set, shower caps, hairbrushes, cotton, cotton swabs, nail files and body lotion were prepared.

There was a big closet next to the bed.

There were bathrobes, iron and an ironing board inside.

There were also laundry bags and slippers.

There was a safe in a drawer under the TV.

There was a cafe corner next to the bathroom.

Drip type coffee maker, electric kettle, cups, glasses and two bottles of water.

Coffee, coffee creamer, sugar, Earl Gray, Darjeeling, green tea and oolong tea bags.

There were several restaurants in the hotel, and I had dinner at the Thai restaurant “Thara Thong.”

There is a digging table inside the store, where you can enjoy Thai cuisine with a nice view of the Chao Phraya River.

I had vegetable panan curry, shrimp fried rice, and fried chicken wrapped in baitui, and the taste and atmosphere was good.

Breakfast was served at the Italian restaurant “Giorgio’s.”

It was served buffet style and Thai and Western dishes were evenly prepared.

There is also a romantic outdoor riverside terrace seat, and if the weather is nice it would be nice to have a meal out here.

There were many kinds of dishes, but I thought it would be better if there were a few more kinds of plant-based dishes and fruits considering Vegan.

There is also an egg station where you can cook your favorite egg dishes.

This is the steakhouse “Riverside Grill.”

The stylish bar and grill on the riverfront serves charcoal-grilled seafood, steak and cocktails.

There was also a lounge in the lobby.

There was a grand piano and drums, so you may be able to listen to live music here.

There was KIOSK selling souvenirs, snacks and so on.

The hotel had two outdoor pools, a garden pool and a terrace pool. This is the garden pool.

Towels were provided next to the pool.

Next to the terrace pool was a gym. There were treadmills, balance balls and so on.

In addition, there was a sauna near the gym.

There was a conference room on the second floor.

There were computers and printers at the the business center.

Due to the spread of coronavirus infection, there were few tourists from overseas, but Thai guests were the main guests. Other than that, I felt that some foreigners who seemed to live in Thailand were included. Also, many Thai guests seemed to come to stay for sightseeing from other prefectures other than Bangkok.

There was also a street food restaurant in front of the River City.
