I decided to stay at the "InterContinental Bangkok," because it is a few minutes walk from BTS Chidlom Station and Siam Stationand and also the Big C supermarket. Before I stayed at Intercontinental, I stayed at Holiday Inn Bangkok which is right in front of this hotel. InterContinental is a hotel of the same family as Holiday Inn, but is the highest rank in this group.

Guest room entrance door.
There was a bathroom on the right and a closet on the left.
The room was very big and had plenty of space to open up my suitcase. The room was chic with a relaxed atmosphere.
The bed mattress was soft with two pillows prepared. It was very comfortable to sleep on. However, my back hurt after a while, so I asked the housekeeper to adjust the bed for me.
There was a TV and drawers across the bed.
A desk with a glass top.
An arm chair next to the bed.
The room seen from the window.
There was nothing blocking the view from my room.

Hotel Surroundings
There were many cars on the streets, but it did not bother me too much. The hotel was within walking distance to shopping centers, supermarkets, McDonald’s, and sightseeing spots, and the sidewalk was easy to walk on. There are many pedestrians on the upper sidewalks connecting from the station, but there are few pedestrians on the lower streets. It felt safe even at night. The closest station to the BTS from the hotel is Chidlom which you can get to on foot. From the Holiday Inn, if you go down the slope and go to the left, you will find an elevator, but if you go toward the right side (Intercontinental side), you will find an escalator going up. However, it is necessary to climb the stairs about 3 steps before getting on the escalator, so for those who have trouble walking it may be best to the ride the elevator.

Staff and Guests
I often talked to the staff, but they did not seem very friendly. When checking in at the front desk they spoke very fast and I had trouble understanding their English.
I did not see any people staying as a group. 60% of the people were staying on business trips and the rest seemed like wealthy Asian tourists.

Access
Access from the airport was very good. I transferred to the airport link and BTS from the airport and arrived at the hotel. It didn’t take an hour to travel, and even if I had a suitcase, I didn’t feel inconvenient because the elevator had both an airport link, a BTS transfer and a drop-off point. There is a supermarket called BIG C near the hotel, but it takes about 5-7 minutes on foot, and I think that it is the same at Isetan department store. In front of the hotel there is a department store called AMARIN PLAZA, with a McDonald’s, food court, massage shop and so on. If you need to, you can also take a BTS from there to get to Chidlom Station, which is a 2-3 minute walk away. The hotel was in a very convenient location.

Summary
I had a nice stay, but I would not stay at this hotel again. I paid a lot of money, but the bed was too soft and the bathroom was cold, so it took time for me to warm up. Since there are four elevators, but I had to wait in line to get on. I bought food and ate in the room, but one of us sat in the chair and the other had to sit on the bed which was a little uncomfortable.
