I decided to stay at the “AETAS Lumpini,” because it is a reasonable five-star hotel close to the center of the city. The station is right near the hotel, so is easy to get to the center of the city using the subway.

The entrance was small for a 5 star hotel, but the casual atmosphere made it easier to walk in. The doorman standing at the entrance always opened the door for me. Also, the lobby smelled very nice.

There were sofas to sit on.

The staff understood English and checked me in very smoothly. They even brought my bags up to my room.

What is the Deluxe Room like?

There was a bathroom on the right and a luggage stand and a closet on the left.

I was very happy with the big and clean room. Many of the hotels in the city have small rooms, but there was plenty of space in this room. The simple yet stylish room had a resort atmosphere.

There was an arm chair and a table by the window.

There was fruit prepared on the table.

The bed was comfortable to sleep on. There was a panel for the light, air conditioner and the alarm next to the bed.

There was a big window, but the view was only of construction which was a little disappointing.

There was a bathtub, shower room, sink and a toilet in the bathroom.

I was able to stretch my legs and relax in the bathtub. However, you will need to move to the shower room to wash.

The water pressure and temperature was just right.

There was a closet at the entrance.

Restaurants in the hotel

I went to the”GMT LOUNGE” on the 9th floor every day. Happy hour starts from 6pm to 8pm. If you order one drink, you can get another for free.

Facilities in the hotel

There was a pool on the 9th floor. It was not a fashionable resort pool. There is a small gym right next to it, so I think it’s more like a gym pool.

Hotel Surroundings

There was a downtown area about 5 minutes away by taxi. It was very lively and fun with restaurants and food stalls lined up and many tourists walking around. There was also a famous massage shop “health land” nearby. Within walking distance from the hotel, there was a fairly casual food stall where locals would go. The food was delicious. Also, there are two small massage shops near the hotel, both of which were cheap and good.

Staff and Guests

The staff was very polite. The doorman will always open the door and carry your luggage. The dryer was broken on the first day, so I had it replaced. The next day, there was macaron and an apology card placed in the room which moved me.

There were many Westerners and Asians. They were all relatively young. It may be because it is a reasonable 5 star hotel.

Access

I went to the hotel on the limousine bus. It was originaly 2400 baht, but I told them it was too expensive, so they changed it to 1200 baht. If you go by train, it costs 120 baht. I think that you can easily go to Bangkok with one transfer because the route map is simple. We recommend taking a train as there is a subway station right next to the hotel.

It takes about 15 minutes by taxi to Wat Pho Temple, and if you put in a meter, you can go cheaply. I went to the famous night market by train. There is a subway station next to the hotel which was very convenient.

Summary

I had a nice stay at this hotel. Even though it is a reasonable hotel it was stylish with great customer service. In particular, I was very happy to receive an apology card and macaroons for the broken dryer. The lounge and breakfast was very delicious. It’s easy to go anywhere because the subway station is nearby, and the taxis are cheap as well. However, if you want to relax in a luxury department store, I think there are better hotels near luxury brand department stores. This hotel is recommended for those who want to move around actively such as going sightseeing.
