I chose "Hotel Mahaina Wellness Resort Okinawa," because I wanted to visit the Churaumi Aquarium and go wale watching and both were just minutes away by car. I also liked the fact that there was an indoor pool. Breakfast was included in the plan for a cheap price. There was also a shuttle bus that took us to Churaumi Aquarium which was convenient, because I was with someone who is handicap.

The hotel was big and had a resort atmosphere.
I went with a rental car and there were two doormen at the entrance who helped me unload my luggage.
The staff guided me to the front desk, and also to the parking lot.

The lobby was very spacious. There were sofa and tables here and there, so it was nice to be able to sit and wait.

What is the Standard Family Room like?
Guest room entrance door.
There was an area at entrance where you take your shoes off.
Slippers were prepared.
The room was very big.
The bed was comfortable to sleep on. However, I personally thought that the pillows were a little too soft and it would have been better for me it they were firmer.
TV and dresser across the bed.
Pajamas in a drawer under the bed.
Dresser.
A smartphone you can use freely.
A table and two chairs by the window.
A tatami space next to the bed.
There is a door leading to the veranda. It was a little hard to open, but there were instructions on how to open the door on the desk.
The verandas for all rooms were facing the same direction, so it was a little uncomfortable to see other people out on their veranda.
The view was very nice. If I looked down I could see the pool.
I could see the ocean from the veranda as well.
The pool that was lit up at night was beautiful.

Bathroom
The bathroom was on the left side of the entrance.
The toilet, sink and bathtub were all in one room.
There was a hand shower in the bathtub. Shampoo, conditioner and body soap were prepared.

Amenities were provided on the sink. There were two toothbrushes and two cotton, hair elastic, hairbrush, and razors for each person. Cotton was useful for doing makeup in the morning.
The hair dryer was on the dresser.

Closet and safe
The closet was on the right side of the entrance.
The light turned on in the closet when I opened the door which was convenient even when it was dark. There were plenty of hangers prepared inside.

Kitchen
There was a mini kitchen to the right of the sink.
The kitchen had an electric stove and a sink.
There was an electric kettle, ice bucket, glasses and teacups, but no tableware or cooking utensils.
There was a fridge.
Free bottles of water were prepared.

Restaurants and shops in the hotel
I had breakfast at a buffet restaurant called “Mersen.” There were both Japanese and Western food prepared.

Sausage and scrambled eggs.
Salad bar.
Main Dining “Izumikawa.”
“Karahai” Lounge & Bar.
There was a select shop on the first floor. They were selling Okinawa glass, chinsuko, T-shirts and alcoholic beverages. Necklaces were very beautiful.

Facilities in the hotel
There was a garden pool in the courtyard and it was very beautiful. The hotel also has an indoor pool, which is available all year round. I was able to borrow a yellow bath towel for the indoor pool. Lockers in the changing room are locked, but they are number locked, so you must remember the number you set yourself. There were four showers in the changing room as well.
The courtyard is just outside the lobby so you won’t get lost. It was a relaxing area with plants such as palm trees.
There is also a public bath in the hotel.

Hotel Surroundings
The parking lot was right next to the hotel which was very convenient. The Churaumi Aquarium is also nearby. The hotel is built along the beach, but it had a little distance. There were several restaurants serving Okinawan food. I don’t think there is a station nearby, so it is best to travel by car. The roads were never crowded.

Staff and Guests
This time, I had a companion who is disabled, but I was impressed with the consideration of checking in while sitting on the sofa and picking out a room close to the elevator.
The guests were not only Japanese tourists but also many Asian tourists such as Korean. I think the age range was from college students to elderly couples. There were small children, but not many. I think that there was also a group tourist because a big sightseeing bus was parked by the hotel.

I went to the hotel by car from Naha Airport. It took two to three hours by car, but I was on the toll road the whole way, so I never got lost. Churaumi Aquarium is nearby so there are several shops to eat and drink and there was also a convenience store about a 15 minute walk away.

Summary
I had a nice stay at this hotel. The main reason for staying at this hotel was to visit Churaumi Aquarium and go whale watching. Churaumi Aquarium is close to the hotel and I think it took less than 4-5 minutes by car. Whale watching was easy to go because the place about 10 minutes from the hotel was the meeting place. There was A & W just a short drive away from the hotel, and the burgers were delicious. In addition, the pool in the hotel was very beautiful. The staff were all wonderful and were very helpful towards my companion who is disabled. I would love to stay here again.
