Detailed review & photos “The Capitol Hotel Tokyu”

What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception

The hotel is a gray, simple and modern 29 story building adjacent to Hie Shrine, so the surrounding area is very green.

The lobby is spacious and luxurious with a modern feel. This is an area designed by an architect named Kengo Sakai who also designed the new National Stadium, which will be the main venue of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games in 2020.

In the main lobby, there was a nice flower arrangement displayed. The flower arrangement changes every month, so you can enjoy the transition of every season.

In front of the reception desk, the seasonal patterns of before Tanabata or bamboo and rattan were displayed beautifully.

There were sofas in front of the reception desk. Here, an art work called “Untitled” drawn by Mr. Momoka Shibata was displayed. It is said that the Beatles who came to Japan in 1966 were impressed with the brush and bought the exact same one.

There were three reception desks. At the back of the counter, an art work called “Hoyo” drawn by Mr. Tohuta Shibata, who was 97 years old, was displayed after the hotel was rebuilt.

What is the Deluxe King Room like?

At the side of the entrance door, there was a light switch, and also a “do not wake up me” lamp switch.

There was a closet, a bathroom and a shelf with a cafe corner on the right side of the room.

The guest room was spacious, and light came in through the big window so it was very bright, making the room feel open.

The room had a Shoji, so the room had a nice modern Japanese style.

The king-size bed which was a little lower than average beds was comfortable to sleep on.

At night, I could see the nice night view from my bed, and I was able to spend an extravagant time.

There was a lamp on the bedside table.

There was also a remote control to open and close the curtains, a phone, tissues, and an alarm clock on the other bedside table.

The alarm was also with the lighting switch panel. In addition, it was convenient because there was an outlet on the table.

There was a TV, a desk and a chair opposite the bed.

There was a bathroom was behind the shoji.

If you open this shoji, you can enjoy the cityscape from the large windows as well as the bathroom.

There was a shower space in front of the bathtub. The shower was a removable shower.

There was also a rain shower and I was able to enjoy two different showers.

Next to the shower, there was shampoo, conditioner and body soap from France under the brand THEMAE.

The wash basin was also spacious, and the lights around the mirror were bright as well.

Environment around the hotel

The Capital Building is just around the corner and it is in the center of the city. Also, because it is adjacent to “Hie Shrine” so there are a lot of trees around the hotel.

Staff and customer base

The staff’s responses were very polite and I was able to feel a Japanese hospitality. Also, there were many foreigners staying, and I saw many foreign staffs at the reception desk.

I often saw European and American business people. Also, at the time of breakfast, there were some Asian groups. About 70% of the guests seemed to be foreigners.

Access

The hotel is connected to the Chiyoda Line/Marunouchi Line National Assembly Building Station and the Subway Nanboku Line/Ginza Line Tameike Sanno Station, so you can get out from the ticket gate and go directly to the hotel from underground. Access is good from Tokyo Station and it only takes 10 minutes by taxi.

Summary

I had a very nice stay at this hotel. It was a calm space with a Japanese atmosphere could be felt everywhere in the hotel. Moreover, the view from the room is worth seeing, and you can enjoy a scenery that you don’t normally get to see. It is a hotel that you get to spend a luxurious time and it is worth staying at.
