Detailed review & photos “Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo”

What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception

About 10 minutes on foot from the south exit of Shinjuku Station along the Koshu Highway, there was “Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo”, the first luxury lifestyle hotel from the United States to land in Japan.

This is the entrance along the Koshu Highway.

IMG_1126 (10)

IMG_1126 (8)

The entrance seen from the inside.

IMG_1126 (7)

When you enter the entrance, you will see “Welcome back” art in front of you. It seems that the feeling of returning to the hotel is expressed in the languages of 195 countries.

IMG_1126 (3)

There was a front desk on the right side of the entrance.

IMG_1126 (13)

It was not a luxury front desk, but a sophisticated, lean and simple desk. It’s a space where everyday life in NY naturally falls, and it matches the glitter of Shinjuku, and I felt very comfortable.

IMG_1126 (11)

Next to the front counter was a welcome board with a picture of a dog and their names on it. These are the dogs staying at this hotel on this day.

The state of the lobby. Once you step in, it feels like you’re in NY, and it’s a wonderful space that makes you forget you’re in Japan.

IMG_1126 (12)

The lobby was not big, but there was a space where you could relax with stylish sofas and tables like this.

There was a yukata hanging at the entrance.

The room had a stylish and cool atmosphere. The furniture is unified in black and white, and brass colors are added here and there to create a cohesive and stylish room. The large windows give it a bright and open feel.

IMG_1126 (20)

The bed was not too hard and not too soft, and very comfortable to sleep on.

IMG_1126(28)

Four pillows were prepared on the bed.

IMG_1126(30)

There were tables on both sides of the bed with an alarm clock, TV remote, and a wireless speaker.

IMG_1126(12)

There was a USB port and a light switch on the headboard.

IMG_1126(5)

There was a large floor-to-ceiling window at the back of the room. The curtain can be opened and closed with the touch of a button next to the bed.

IMG_1126(7)

The view was not the best, but it overlooked the prosperous city of Shinjuku. In front of my room was Bunka Fashion College.

IMG_1126(6)

The night view was very nice.

Restaurants and Shops in the Hotel

IMG_1126 (27)

Breakfast is served at the main dining “District” on the 2nd floor or at the cafe & bar “The Jones” on the 1st floor. I had breakfast at “The Jones.”

IMG_1126 (25)

“The Jones” was a cute cafe.

At the select shop in the corner of the lobby, candles, accessories, dog clothes, folding fans, bags, plates, etc. were exhibited like an art gallery and could be purchased.

Hotel Surroundings

It’s a calm place a little far from Shinjuku Station, but it was safe even at night. You can shop at the station building in Shinjuku or appreciate art at Opera City. I went to Omotesando and Roppongi. Because the hotel is located along a big street, it is easy to find a taxi. Many people seemed to come by private car with their dogs and their families.

Staff and Guests

The staff were all very kind. He was happy to bring me what I ordered on my tablet. However, the lack of knowledge was conspicuous, perhaps because it was a hotel that had just been built. The cooperation between the front desk and the restaurant was not so good, and there were times when I felt uncomfortable.

IMG_1126 (13)

I had the impression that there were more families with pets. I felt that there were few young couples and there were relatively many wealthy people.

Access

Shinjuku Station, Minami-Shinjuku Station, Tochomae Station, etc. are nearby, and it takes about 7 to 8 minutes on foot. There are many shopping spots and delicious shops, and since it is in the center of Tokyo, it was easy to access wherever I wanted to go. I highly recommend going to the famous udon restaurant “Shin” which is about a 7-minute walk from the hotel.

Summary

The hospitality was high and it was a very nice hotel. Whenever I’m hungry, the chef will be happy to assist you 24 hours a day, so I’m thinking of ordering a midnight snack next time. The amenities in the room were also highly evaluated, and the staff brought in the necessary items such as adhesive plasters and lipsticks. Towels and cups are also provided in sufficient quantity, which was a nice point for me who wants to change them frequently. It was great that every place, such as the lobby, elevator, and guest rooms smelled nice. I would love to visit this hotel another time.
