“Minn Ueno” is an apartment-type hotel located in Ueno that opened in August 2020. The clean, newly built hotel has spacious rooms all equipped with a kitchen. Conveniently located near Ueno and Okachimachi stations, you can spend a relaxing stay as if you are staying at home. The interior design is modern Japanese and is a calm and cozy space. It is also a good hotel to enjoy the new style of travel "Staycation" which is lately becoming popular.

The hotel stands in one of the back streets which is only a short walk from the main street and about 5 minutes on foot from both Ueno and Okachimachi stations. It is a 14 story stylish building.
There were trees planted at the entrance.
Cherry blossoms were decorated at the entrance.

There were tables and chairs lined up like a cafe, and the front desk was at the back. This space can be used as a lobby lounge.
The modern Japanese interior created a calm and stylish atmosphere.The big windows had a nice view of the garden.
The ceiling was designed as if the carps are swimming upside down.

What is the Superior Family Room like?

The shadows were showing the room number.
Entrance
You must take your shoes off at the entrance.
Trash cans that were divided.
There was a toilet on the right, a bathroom in the middle and the bedroom on the left.
There was a door to the bedroom.
There was a kitchen and a loft right after entering the room.
There was a living room at the back.
The beds were two double size beds on the ground and two single beds on the loft.
The bed under the loft was a double size bed which was spacious and relaxing to lie down on. The mattress was also comfortable. The wall dividing the two beds give you privacy.
There was a table and a shelf next to the bed with an outlet, USB port and a light. Same goes with the beds on the loft.
There were bath towels, face towels and toothbrushes on the bed. However, there were no pajamas prepared.

It was a single-sized bed with bath towels, face towels and toothbrushes prepared on top.

There was a living room with a large sofa. The table was also very big with plenty of space to put my belongings on top.
An Ukiyoe painting by Katsushika Hokusai was drawn on the entire wall, creating a space with a Japanese atmosphere.
There was a narrow desk with a mirror above it. I was able to get do my makeup while sitting down.

The view from the window was only of buildings around the hotel. I was staying in a room on the 3rd floor, so the view on the upper floor may be better. The veranda can only be used in an emergency. The windows could be opened, so I was able to ventilate the room.

The shower room, sink and toilet were all separate.
There was plenty of space to put my belongings next to the sink.
Hair dryer
There was a shower room that was designed so that you can sit down.
There was a removable hand shower and an overhead shower. The shower head was big with a strong water pressure.
Shampoo, conditioner and body soap were papered next to the shower. The refreshing scent of orange was very nice.
The toilet was in a separate room.

There was a kitchen.

The sink was equipped with dishwashing detergent, sponge, draining rack, cutting board, ladle and a spatula. I had no problem cooking in this kitchen.
Cooking utensils such as pots, pans, bowls, and colanders were stored under the sink.

Hotel Surroundings
The hotel is located near the downtown area of Ueno, close to the train station, and there are many restaurants, convenience stores and shops nearby. Although, the downtown area is near the hotel, it was quiet in the hotel. The hotel is also within walking distance to the zoo and Ueno Park, where many museums are located. You can enjoy sightseeing in Ueno.
It was about a 5 minute walk to Ameyoko.
Ueno Park Shinobazu Pond is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. I had a nice walk in the morning.

Staff and Guests
This is an apartment type hotel, so I did not have to check-in or check-out, but they kindly greeted me when I walked by. I did not see any other guests during my stay, but I can imagine families and small groups of people staying here.

Access
It is a 5 minute walk from each line at Ueno Station, a 5 minutes walk from Okachimachi Station, and various lines such as JR, Tokyo Metro and Toei line are available. It is a convenient location not only for sightseeing in Ueno, but you can also visit popular tourist spots in Tokyo, such as Asakusa.

Summary
I had a nice stay at “Minn Ueno.” It was a newly built, clean and stylish apartment type hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable, with outlets everywhere which was convenient. It is nice that the room has a door and the bathroom/toilet and the living room space were separated. It is a perfect hotel for going out and enjoy the city of Ueno. It was a nice hotel to enjoy the new style of travel “Staycation” in Tokyo.
