Hotel Ryumeikan Tokyo is a 3-minute walk from the Yaesu North Exit of JR Tokyo Station and a 1-minute walk from Nihonbashi Station Exit A3 of the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line/Tozai Line, making it a very convenient location for both sightseeing and for business. It has also been highly rated as a small luxury hotel for nine consecutive years in the Michelin Guide.
What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception
It was a 15 story hotel which was tall and slender. The name of the hotel was on the wall.
The hotel floor is on the 8th floor and above, and the floors bellow are offices.
The hotel was easy to find.
Entrance
There were two doors at the entrance.
This hotel was originally a long-established ryokan founded in the Meiji era, but it reopened in 2009 as “Hotel Ryumeikan Tokyo.” This is the sign from the time of the “Ryokan Gofubashi Ryumeikan.”
Imari-yaki wind chimes were hanging from the ceiling at the elevator hall. I enjoyed the sound of summer in Japan. It is said that the wind chimes have been used to mean “amulet” since ancient times, and they are decorated with a wish to end the coronavirus.
The lobby was on the 15th floor.
Lobby floor elevator hall.
Chairs and tables were placed in the lobby.
It was a bright and open lobby surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. I could see the area around Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station from the windows.
Up to three groups people can check in at once.
This is the “BRIDGE R SHOP” located next to the front desk where you can purchase hotel original shampoo, conditioner, body soap and other amenities and yukata used at this hotel. There was also Ryumeikan original sake cakes and Japanese-style miscellaneous items such as fans.
There was also a currency exchange machine.
Guest room floor elevator hall.

What is the Forus Double - JAPANESE MODERN- Room like?
Guest room entrance door.
There was a bathroom on the right and a full length mirror and a hanging space on the left.
Full length mirror
My room was 26.9 square meters wide and had plenty of space for one person to stay. The living room in the back was on a tatami mat, so you can take off your shoes and relax. The carpet was a traditional Japanese color with the motif of chrysanthemums, “Nasukoniro,” and it was a beautiful room with a modern Japanese design.
An artificial flower was hanging on the wall.
The queen size bed can fit two people no problem. The latest “Air” series mattresses and pillows provided by Nishikawa Co., Ltd., a long-established bedding company. I was able to sleep very comfortably.
There were four pillows and two cushions prepared on the bed.
There was a yukata and a nightwear on the bed.
There was a multi-sound clock that allows you to enjoy music by connecting to your smartphone via Bluetooth, and a free rental smartphone on the headboard. There was also an outlet and a USB port which was convenient for charging electronic devices.
Humidifier
A sofa, table and a TV on a tatami mat.
A spacious sofa is set around a table, so you can either sit on the floor or on the sofa. It may be an interesting experience for those visiting from overseas.
There was a cabinet with a TV across the sofa.
TV
Japanese toys such as kendama, kaleidoscope, origami, along with a telephone and a memo set were prepared on the desk. Guests visiting from overseas can enjoy themselves.
Furthermore, on the side of the cabinet was a book about kimono and elegant flowers that colored Edo.
The room seen from the window.
There was a window, but the view was only of a wall of a building next door. The buildings around Tokyo Station are standing close together, so it cannot be helped.

Restaurants in the hotel
There was a restaurant called “Hanagoyomi Tokyo” on the 15th floor which is the same floor as the lobby. It was closed for lunch during my stay. Reservations is a must for dinner.
Breakfast was a reservation-only room service. Breakfast is prepared at the restaurant “Hanagoyomi Tokyo,” and you can choose from five types of bentos: grilled fish bento (salmon and mackerel daily provided), kashiwa (chicken) bento, ginger grilled bento, chicken fried bento and a western bento. They were all 1800 yen including tax.

The staff’s response was polite. Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, there were no foreign tourists staying at this hotel, but during normal times about 50% are foreigners. Since it is located in front of Tokyo Station, many people stay here on business trips as well.

Summary
I had a nice stay at the “Hotel Ryumeikan Tokyo.” There was a small tatami mat in the “Forus Double C -JAPANESE MODERN-” where I stayed. Since I don’t have a tatami room in my apartment, I usually live without touching the tatami mats, but I was happy that I was able to take my shoes off and stretch my legs and relax. Also, Japanese toys such as kendama and kaleidoscope were placed in the room which was exciting. It is an accommodation facility that combines a hotel and a ryokan. It is also in a location in front of Tokyo Station and is highly recommended for both sightseeing and for business.
