Detailed review & photos “HOTEL 1899 TOKYO”

The hotel was located on a quiet street, a short distance from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area. It was a 9 story building with a chic and modern appearance.

The first floor is a Japanese tea cafe and the second floor is the lobby.

The lobby is on the 2nd floor.

Customers other than those staying at this hotel can have tea at the cafe as well.

There was a front desk as soon as I went upstairs by elevator. The front is designed to remind you of a tea room, and during the daytime, the sunlight shines through the large windows creating a bright and open atmosphere.

There were sofas by the front desk.

There is a tea pot on the counter and you can brew sencha or matcha if you wish.

If you order matcha the staff will make the tea for you.

There was a card slot and a lamp by the entrance.

There was a walk-in closet, toilet, bathroom, sink at the entrance. Behind a sliding door was the bedroom.

The room was 33.6 square meters wide which was very spacious. There were also floor to ceiling windows. The room was designed in the image of a teahouse, and was based on green, which is reminiscent of green tea.

Two spacious beds with a width of 120 cm were lined up. The mattress was Airweave which was moderately stiff and comfortable to sleep on. I was able to wake up all refreshed in the morning.

There are 3 pillows on each bed, one made by Airweave, and a feather pillow and pipe pillow from Nishikawa, Kyoto, which were also comfortable to use.

The headboard had a universal outlet, USB port, light switch and a switch to open and close the curtains. A free handy phone and tablet were installed on the night table, and the tablet had functions such as air conditioning, lighting, curtain operation, extension phone, tourist information, etc.

The bedside lighting has a tea ceremony motif, and it has a unique design that makes you want to take a picture.

The TV was 40 inches wide and had an outlet, USB port and a Blu-ray player underneath.

The table was shaped like a tray and was perfect for placing tea.

My room was on the 9th floor, so I had a nice view of the city.

I could also see the Tokyo Tower in the distance.

The bathtub, toilet and sink were all independent.

There was a double sink which was convenient for when staying with two people. The lights around the mirror brightened the sink.

Amenities such as a toothbrush, razor, shaving foam, shaving after cream, brush, comb, cotton, cotton swab, body wash towel, shower cap, hair band and so on were prepared in a box.

Two kinds of scented bath salts and basic cosmetics of Mikimoto Cosmetics (cleansing, washing pigment, lotion, cream) were also provided. The hand and body lotion and the hand and face soap on the wash basin were from the Pelican Soap Triple C series with green tea ingredients.

There was a hair dryer, bath towels and a scale stored under the sink.

There was a bathmat hanging on the door handle.

The wash area was spacious.

There were three types of showers: a fixed shower from above and a removable hand shower and body shower. The water pressure was sufficient, and the body shower, which hits the body directly, felt like I was getting a massage.

Shampoo, conditioner and body soap were also triple C series with green tea ingredients.

I was able to stretch my legs and relax in the bathtub.

There was a non-transparent window in the bathroom.

It was a very stylish space.

You can enjoy tea in your room using fashionable tea utensils.

There were tree types of water prepared. This is pure water used for tea and coffee.

Glasses cups, plates and an electric kettle.

There are four types of tea bags, coffee and snacks.

There was natural mineral water and carbonated water in the fridge.

On the first floor of the hotel was the Japanese tea cafe “CHAYA 1899 TOKYO.”

You can enjoy Japanese tea such as drinks using high-quality matcha, hojicha and Japanese black tea, as well as sweets and bread. You can also do takeout.

There are alcoholic beverages such as original sake and matcha beer, as well as light meal menus such as tea sausages, french fries and fried chicken.

They made one cup of tea at a time.

I had matcha soda, dark tea latte, matcha bread bean paste and roasted green tea bread with Japanese chestnut. The drink did not contain sugar and I enjoyed the original taste of matcha. You can choose the number of grams of matcha for the dark tea latte, and you can have it as strong as you like. The bread and drinks went well together and it was delicious.

“The Superior Double B-ENGAWA-” is 20 square meters wide and the back of the room where the bed is installed has a high floor, and it is a small rise that imagines the veranda.

The sink is located next to the desk. There is a water area near the tea utensils, and it is designed to be convenient and easy to use when brewing tea.

The toilet and bathtub were in the same room.

“Superior Double A-IORI-” is a room with a hermitage motif, measuring 20 square meters and equipped with a large 160cm wide bed. It is a calm and relaxing room.

There is a relaxing bench sofa by the window. There is also a kyusu and a teacup, so you can brew your own tea.

The bathtub, sink and toilet were in the same space.

The standard double is 18 square meters wide, and while it is a simple and functional room Japanese designs reminiscent of a tea room are scattered throughout.

There is a round window reminiscent of a tea room. The 16ocm wide bed was spacious.

It takes about 10 to 15 minutes on foot to Toranomon Hills.
