Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi – Review & Photos

What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception

IMG_1223 (9) copy

The “Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo Otemachi” is located in a building in the business district, so it may be difficult to tell that it is a hotel at first glance.

IMG_1223 (6) copy

A part of the first floor of the building that houses Mitsui & Co., Ltd. called “Otemachi One” is the entrance and parking lot of the hotel. As is often the case with foreign-affiliated hotels, the ground floor seems to be designed to be less noticeable.

IMG_1223 (7) copy

There was a beautiful plant at the entrance.

IMG_1223 (4) copy

The lobby is located on the 39th floor.

IMG_1223 (5) copy

When the elevator opens on the 39th floor, you can get a panoramic view of the Imperial Palace and central Tokyo. I wanted to take a closer look at the view, but it was a pity that I couldn’t enjoy the view by the window because there was water in front of it.

There was a cafe just behind the water. You can enjoy a nice view of the city from this cafe.

There was a big Christmas tree in front of the front desk.

What is the Superior King City View Room like?

IMG_1223(16) copy

Guest room entrance door.

IMG_1223(11) copy

There was a bathroom on the right and a closet and cafe corner on the left.

IMG_1223(9) copy

The room was fresh and very clean. On top of that, I was impressed by how well they used indirect lighting and used plenty of high-quality furniture and household goods that were calm but had a good taste. Perhaps because it is near the Imperial Palace, I felt that the interior was something that foreigners would like, incorporating Japanese in some places. The door that separates the bathroom from the bed used a shoji-like door. I was surprised that the bed seemed to float above the clouds when I took a picture, probably because of indirect lighting.

IMG_1223(15) copy

The bed was comfortable, not too hard and not too soft. Not to mention the cleanliness of the linen, the pillows also had the Four Seasons wood logo, which made me feel comfortable.

IMG_1223(27) copy

There were tables on both sides of the bed, and tablets were placed here. With this tablet, you can also interact with hotel staff by requesting various services and chatting.

IMG_1223(24) copy

There was also a BOSE speaker on the other side. It’s small but it sounds very good, and I was impressed that I was able to listen to good music while working. In addition, there are control panels for lighting, opening and closing curtains, air conditioner, etc. on both sides of the bed, which was very convenient. There was also an outlet and a USB port, so you can charge your phone next to your bed.

IMG_1223(2) copy

IMG_1223 copy

You can stretch your legs and relax on the sofa.

IMG_1223(22) copy

Sweets prepared on the table.

IMG_1223(29) copy

In addition, two types of rice crackers, a souvenir sushi roll and a zara ball were prepared.

IMG_1223(7) copy

The room seen from the window.

IMG_1223(18) copy

The window was very big.

IMG_1223(14) copy

The most distinctive thing was that I could see the Sky Tree from my room. I could see it at a closer distance than I expected, and it was beautiful because it was lit up at night. I wanted the Imperial Palace view this time, but unfortunately I was guided to the city view. Since I work in Otemachi, I was accustomed to the view of the Imperial Palace from the lower floors, so the lower grade city view was not enough. I could see the office building near Kanda instead of the fascinating view from the room, but I could only get the impression of everyday life.

Bathroom

The bathroom entrance.

IMG_1223(30) copy

The wall was transparent, but you can get some privacy by closing the shoji doors.

IMG_1223(19) copy

There was a bathtub, sink, toilet and shower room in the same space.

IMG_1223(34) copy

The bathtub was stylish and interesting in shape, and the faucet was fashionable and functional. However, although the bathtub looks very nice, water became lukewarm easily and the floor was slippery.

IMG_1223(28) copy

There was a spacious shower room with a stool to sit on.

IMG_1223(23) copy

The shower was made by Grohe in Germany, the water pressure was strong, and the spray pattern could be switched between 4 types. Shampoo, conditioner and body soap were also provided in the shower room. They were of a brand called “Frederick Maru,” which is famous for its perfume.

Sink

IMG_1223(13) copy

Double sink

IMG_1223(25) copy

Amenities such as soap, body lotion, cotton and cotton swabs were provided on the sink. Also, since I was staying with children, they prepared shampoos for children called “Sophie Rajiraf Baby Starter Kit” and toothbrushes that children were happy with.

IMG_1223(35) copy

Underneath the sink you will find almost everything you need, such as a toothbrush set (with an interdental brush and a thread), razor, comb, shower cap and bath salts. What I thought was unique to this hotel was that the toothbrushes and combs were made of wood.

Closet and Safe

IMG_1223(4) copy

There was a closet by the entrance.

IMG_1223(33) copy

There was plenty of space in the closet, and the wooden hangers specially made by the Four Seasons Hotel were excellent. I thought it was amazing that one umbrella was prepared for each man and woman. In addition, there was an iron, ironing board, shoehorn, etc.

Minibar and Cafe

IMG_1223(6) copy

There was a cafe corner next to the closet.

There was a capsule type coffee machine, electric kettle, tea set, cups and more.

IMG_1223(10) copy

A stylish tea set.

IMG_1223(31) copy

In the drawer, 3 types of coffee capsules, 6 in total, and original Japanese black tea and Japanese tea were prepared, and they were very delicious. In addition, brandy and mini bottles of whiskey were also prepared as minibars (for a fee).

IMG_1223(5) copy

In this drawer, snacks, chocolates and nuts were prepared (for a fee).

IMG_1223(26) copy

IMG_1223(21) copy

There was a refrigerator that contained various alcoholic beverages such as local beer and wine (charged), but there was not enough space to put the drinks that we bought.

Restaurants and Shops in the Hotel

IMG_1223 (21) copy

I had dinner at the Italian “PIGNETO.”

IMG_1223 (19) copy

The view form the restaurant was gorgeous.

IMG_1223 (17) copy

The food and drinks were both very delicious.

IMG_1223 (18) copy

There were kid’s menues as well.

IMG_1223 (20) copy

Above all, the dessert was delicious. However, the overall price was a little expensive.

There was also “est” which offers contemporary French cuisine.

At “VIRTÙ” you can enjoy original cocktails created based on French vintage spirits and rare cognac.

At “THE LOUNGE” you can enjoy afternoon tea that incorporates the essence of Japanese in an elegant space overlooking the forest of the Imperial Palace.

Hotel Surroundings

The hotel is very convenient because it is connected to the office building called Otemachi One and the restaurants in the basement. However, since I stayed on Sunday, the area where the underground restaurants, convenience stores, and drug stores were closed. I got the impression that restaurants are quieter on Saturdays and Sundays than on weekdays. It is recommended for those who want to stay in a quiet neighborhood, but I thought it would be a little inconvenient for shopping and gourmet food.

Staff and Guests

Since it is a foreign-owned hotel, I thought it would be unavoidable that it lacked hospitality compared to Japanese hotels, but at check-in, there was no guidance to the room and no luggage was carried. Also, when I asked the car guidance staff on the 1st floor about the direction of Takebashi Station (a 5-minute walk), I was very surprised that they didn’t know it. I think that it is related to the fact that it has just opened and that it is a corona wreck, but I felt that there are quite a few staff members who do not deserve the name of a first-class hotel.

Access

The nearest station is Otemachi Station, which is connected to many subways such as the Marunouchi Line, Hanzomon Line, Chiyoda Line, Tozai Line, and Mita Line. Furthermore, Otemachi is underground and connected to Tokyo Station, so I think it is very convenient. The area around the hotel is a business district, and I got the impression that it was calm because it is closer to the Imperial Palace and Takebashi Station in Otemachi. For those who want to enjoy shopping it would be better to go near Ginza or Tokyo Station.

Summary

I think that the good and bad things about staying at this hotel were completely separated. The grade of the guest room was very high, I felt that the furniture and household goods were very high quality, and I got the impression that it was simple and modern with a Japanese feel, so I was able to spend a very comfortable time. On the other hand, there were quite a few responses that I couldn’t think of as a luxury hotel which was very disappointing. There was no guidance to the room at check-in, and I felt that there was not enough staff at all. Also, at a hotel of this level, I thought that turndown services would be provided in the evening, but they wouldn’t respond unless I called them. The staff near the entrance also lacked knowledge, and the stay had a slightly bad aftertaste. Many of the restaurant staff were polite and professional. I think it’s a hotel I’d like to stay again if I have the opportunity when it’s settled down a year or two later.
