"Mitsui Garden Hotel Sapporo West" is a hotel that just opened in February 2020. Located near JR Sapporo Station, this stylish and modern hotel incorporates Hokkaido tradition, culture and nature as motifs in the exterior and interior design of the building. On the second floor of the hotel, there is a restaurant called "Sankakudo" where you can enjoy dishes unique to Hokkaido.

The hotel is a 13-story building standing along the northern 5-jo Teine Dori and is about a 4-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station.

The exterior was stylish, incorporating designs unique to Hokkaido, such as red bricks and gas lamps.

The lobby was not big, but it was a monotone urban space that was very stylish.

What is the Comfort Twin Room like?

There was a closet and shower room on the left.

The room was about 26 square meters wide with a sink out in the open, making the space feel wider.

The bed was comfortable to sleep on.

It was a stylish and functional room. The belts handing on the headboard was a very unique design.

There was an outlet, USB port and a light switch on the headboard. There was also an alarm clock, phone and a memo set on the bedside table.

The shower room, toilet and sink were all separate.

The sink was out in the open and stylish. The counter area next to the sink was spacious and convenient for putting my belongings on top.

Amenities included a toothbrush set, razor, hairbrush, cotton, hair elastic, cotton swabs, amenity bags and body wash towels.

There was an overhead shower and a hand shower. The water pressure was strong enough and comfortable to wash.

Closet and safe

The closet was in front of the shower room. Large luggages did not fit inside, but there is a baggage rack inside, so I was able to put my luggage elsewhere.

“Sankakudo,” a restaurant on the second floor, is a bright and open space where you can enjoy a Japanese and Western buffet breakfast using fresh Hokkaido ingredients.

From 12:00, an adult dish crepe produced by “GAKU inc.” by the spark of the night cafe boom in Sapporo will be served. I ordered kiwi crepe kiwi using fermented milk and it was delicious with a good balance of sweetness, acidity and bitterness.

Facilities in the hotel

The hotel had a public bath. Although it was not so big, the bathtub provided a comfortable space with a view of the tsubo garden.

The lady’s changing room had a powder space and was equipped with skin care products such as cleansing, face washing and lotion.

Hotel Surroundings

The hotel is located near Sapporo Station and there are many convenience stores, shops and restaurants nearby. Tourist spots such as Hokkaido University Botanical Garden and the former main building of Hokkaido Government are nearby as well. You can also walk to Odori Park.

Staff and Guests

The staff were courteous and caring. As for the guests, there seemed to be both people staying for sightseeing and for business. It is said that there are 70 rooms that can accommodate 3 people, so you can stay with a large number of people as well.

The hotel is about 4 minutes on foot to JR Sapporo Station, so it is a location with excellent access for sightseeing and for business.

Summary

I had a nice stay at “Mitsui Garden Hotel Sapporo West.” Art works are displayed throughout the hotel, and the design incorporating traditional elements of Hokkaido was a sophisticated and very comfortable space. The guest rooms were functional, easy to use and comfortable with a calm and modern atmosphere. It was also nice that there as a public bath. Breakfast using ingredients from Hokkaido was also delicious. It is a hotel located in a very convenient location which is near Sapporo Station and is also very comfortable to stay at, so I highly recommend staying here.
