I decided to stay at the "ANA Holiday Inn Sapporo Susukino," because it is close to many sightseeing spots and has IHG Rewards Club membership benefits. I wanted to visit Hokkaido for a family trip, so I was looking for a hotel in Sapporo. Meanwhile, a family member of the IHG Rewards Club suggested that we stay at an IHG affiliated hotels. There are two hotels of this series in Sapporo, and comparing these two, I decided to stay at this hotel because this hotel was most reasonable of them all.

The lobby was not big, but it was quiet and relaxing.

There were an corner introducing Hokkaido, a souvenir shop and newspapers, so there was a lot to do in the lobby.

During check-in, IHG Rewards Club members will receive a welcome drink coupon. This coupon can be used at the restaurant called “Verde,” an all-day dining restaurant on the second floor.

What is the Deluxe Twin Room like?

A bed with a refreshing design based on yellow-green color made the whole room brighter. Despite being in a downtown area, I was able to spend a quiet time without any noise coming in from the outside. In addition, there was plenty of space to open up my suitcase on the floor.

There were three of us staying, so there was an extra bed prepared.

The bathroom was small with scratches here and there, but it was cleaned well.

There was an acrylic case with amenities inside it. It contained toothbrushes, sanitary bags, hairbrushes, razors and swabs. There were also body lotions and soaps.

Hotel Surroundings

The hotel was in the downtown area, so it was very lively. The intersection with the famous Nikka Whiskey Uncle’s beard sign was also nearby. In addition, there were several convenience stores around the hotel, and there were many restaurants, including the original Sapporo Ramen Yokocho, so you will have no trouble finding a place to eat. Sapporo’s representative sightseeing spots such as the TV Tower, Odori Park, and Sapporo Clock Tower were also within walking distance, so I was able to enjoy sightseeing in Sapporo on foot.

Staff and Guests

All the staff responded very politely. They always greeted me when I passed by the front desk. As for the guests, there seemed to be many office workers and middle-aged people. I did not see many young people or families. I also saw a Chinese group at the lobby, but everyone was well mannered.

Access

I went to the hotel from New Chitose Airport and I arrived in about an hour using the highway. It is also covnient to ride the subway, because it is a 2-minute walk from Subway Susukino Station and a 2-minute walk from Hosui Susukino Station. It is the best location for traveling!

Summary

I made the right decision to stay at the “ANA Holiday Inn Sapporo Susukino.” The hotel itself is old and felt more like a business hotel. However, the room was kept clean, the amenities and equipment were sufficient, and the beds were fluffy and comfortable to sleep on. All the staff were very kind and polite to customers and I received a good impression. Breakfast was delicious and I was able to enjoy dishes unique to Hokkaido. There are tourist spots within walking distance, and convenience stores and restaurants nearby as well, so the location the best. If I plan on visiting Sapporo again I would love to stay at this reasonable hotel once more.
