I decided to stay at the “Mercure Hotel Sapporo,” because I was looking for a hotel around Susukino Station. Susukino Station is in a big city and is a convenient place to stay, but it is a little pricy. If you are staying with family or a large number of people, you will need to reserve two rooms. Children under 17 can stay at this hotel for free. In addition, children's breakfast is free.

The hotel is located in the middle of the city and is right by Susuki Station.

It is a French hotel and the entrance was very simple.

The lobby is on the 3rd floor, so there were only chairs at the entrance.

What is the Standard Twin Room like?

There was a bathroom on the right and a full length mirror on the left.

My room was facing North, so the room felt a little dark even with the lights turned on.

The 25 square meter room was not large, but it had good soundproofing.

The bed was made by Simmons and it was a comfortable bed to sleep on.

There was no balcony, but it is a hotel in the city, so it was not necessary.

There was green tea and instant coffee. The ice machine was just outside the room. I got 4 bottles of water at the front desk for free.

Hotel Surroundings

Popular tourist spots in Sapporo are within walking distance form the hotel. The famous “seafood market” is a train ride away, but you can also get to “Nijo market” if you walk 5 to 6 minutes.

Staff and Guests

There were enough staff standing at the front desk, so you will not have to wait too long to check in. They were all very polite.

There were many groups of Chinese and Western guests staying. There were many families staying as well and I did not see people staying on a business trip.

Access

It is very convenient to get to places from Susukino station. It is the second stop from Sapporo Station, and there is also an airport bus stop.

Summary

I was very happy with the location of this hotel and the free breakfast for children under 17. The room was a good size for two people, but felt small for four people. My children enjoyed reading books at the library in the lobby. There are many other hotels nearby, but this was the most reasonable hotel out of them all.
