"Hotel Monterey Edelhof Sapporo" is located in the center of Sapporo City. The hotel occupies the upper floors of a 22-storey high-rise building and offers rooms with a nice view of Sapporo. With a motif of Vienna from the end of the 19th century, you can enjoy a luxurious stay.

The hotel is a 22-story building facing Soseigawa-dori and is a 7-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station. The building was European style.

The lobby was not big, but the chandeliers and pictures made the space feel classic and luxurious.

The room was 24 square meters wide which was spacious. The interior design was simple.

The beds were made by the brand “Simmons” and it was soft and comfortable to sleep on.

The closet had a cute design.

Although the closet was narrow, it was tall enough to hang a long coat. Deodorant spray, shoe polish, shoehorn and a clothes brush were prepared inside.

A Japanese restaurant called “Zuientei” on the 13th floor.

Breakfast was served at the banquet hall on the 13th floor. They switch between the venue on the 12th floor and the 13th floor depending on the day.

The venue was big and bright with windows everywhere.

Japanese/Western dishes were served buffet style. There were dishes unique to Hokkaido which was very exciting.

There was a spa on the 14th floor called “Karlovy Bali Spa.” This large facility has a natural hot spring, whirlpool, sauna, open-air bath, bedrock bath and a lounge. You will have to pay extra money to get in.

Hotel Surroundings

The hotel is located in the center of Sapporo City, so there were many convenience stores, restaurants, and drugs stores nearby. Although the hotel was in the city, it was not in the downtown area, so it was very quiet at the hotel.

Staff and Guests

The staff were all nice and polite. There were staff standing here and there, always ready to help.

There were some guests visiting from overseas, but most of the guests were Japanese. There were also students staying on a school trip during my stay.

Access

It is a 7-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station and a 2-minute walk from Sapporo Station on the Toho Subway Line. I walked to the hotel from Odori Station, but it was convenient because the hotel and the station was connected with an underground passage. There is also an airport bus running between New Chitose Airport and the hotel which was very convenient.

Summary

I had a nice stay at “Hotel Monterey Edelhof Sapporo.” Inspired by designs used in Vienna during the late 19th century, it was a nice hotel with an elegant and classic style. The room was not new, but it was clean and comfortable in a different way. Breakfast was also delicious and I had a very satisfying stay. I would like to stay at this hotel again if I have the opportunity to.
