The lobby is an open space. It was clean and the ceiling had fashionable lighting. There were no windows and it was very Hawaiian and felt very nice.

IMG_0629 (4) copy

There were spacious chairs, sofas and tables in the lobby. There was a blue vivid color sofa and a cute cushion, and it was a refined atmosphere. Many guests were sitting here and relaxing.

IMG_0629 (7) copy

There was also a terrace.

IMG_0629 (6) copy

There was also a business center with a computer and printer in the lobby.

There was a water fountain on the first floor. It was convenient because I could fill up my plastic bottle with water.

What is the City View Deluxe King Room like?

IMG_0629 (39) copy

Guest room entrance door.

IMG_0629 (37) copy

You hold the card key up and enter the room.

IMG_0629 (20) copy

There was a strange smell when I first entered the room. It looked like an expensive business hotel, but it was cleaned very well.

IMG_0629 (21) copy

The room seen from the window side. As the room was small, it was hard to enter the bathroom when the suitcases were on opened up on the floor.

IMG_0629 (23) copy

The room is small, but the beds is comfortable. Personally I liked the hardness of the pillow, and I was able to sleep well with a soft and sinking feeling. The mattress is a little hard and the bed was relatively high.

IMG_0629 (28) copy

The bedside table had an alarm, a note set, a TV remote and so on.

IMG_0629 (18) copy

Bedside outlet.

IMG_0629 (36) copy

The bedside table drawers had room service brochures and a magazine.

IMG_0629 (33) copy

There was a TV opposite the bed.

IMG_0629 (41) copy

There was a window in the room.

IMG_0629 (38) copy

The window overlooked the surrounding buildings and the canal.

IMG_0629 (38) copy

As the building itself is quite tall with 44 floors, the view looks better as you go higher. I thought that it would have been nicer if there was a balcony.

Bathroom

IMG_0629 (29) copy

When I entered the bathroom there was a washbasin at the front, a shower room in the far left, and a toilet in the front left.

IMG_0629 (44) copy

Under the wash basin, towels were prepared. There were two of us staying this time, and there were enough towels prepared.

IMG_0629 (32) copy

As it was a bathroom without a bathtub, and the shower booth had a shower that could only change the angle. It was a little troublesome when washing my feet. The water pressure was so good. The shower booth was wide enough, but I was disappointed about the shower its self.

Toilet.

IMG_0629 (26) copy

The amenities included shampoo, conditioner, mini bottle of lotion and soap. I thought it was good to bring my stuff with it because it was a small amount. I think it will replenish if you say, but because there was also information that it would cost money to use the amenities. If you ask the front desk for a toothbrush, toothpaste, razor and shaving cream, they will prepare them for you.

IMG_0629 (31) copy

There was also a hair dryer.

Closet and safe

IMG_0629 (35) copy

The closet was in the room on the right. It is next to a shelf with a refrigerator and a microwave, and the space is small, but about five clothes can be hung. There were nine hangers, but it would get to tight if you hang nine clothes.

IMG_0629 (24) copy

Inside the closet there was also an iron, an ironing board, a hair dryer and a laundry bag.

IMG_0629 (19) copy

There was also a safe in the bedside table storage rack.

IMG_0629 (45) copy

I did not use the safe this time.

Mini bar and cafe

IMG_0629 (30) copy

Next to the closet there was a microwave, a cafe corner and a fridge. I was happy about having a microwave in the room. It was nice because I could buy a boxed lunch at the convenience store in front of the hotel and warm it up.

IMG_0629 (34) copy

There was a coffee machine in the cafe corner. I could not figure out how to use the coffee machine so I could not drink any coffee, but I wanted to drink it because it was a cute packaged Kona Coffee. The cup had a paper lid. You can throw it away even if you carry it around.

IMG_0629 (30) copy

There was also a refrigerator.

IMG_0629 (40) copy

There was nothing in the fridge.

Restaurant and shop in the hotel

IMG_0629 (47) copy

Breakfast buffet hall entrance. Guests can enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast daily.

IMG_0629 (49) copy

There were various types of bread, cereals and yogurt. There were other things such as omelettes, sausages and fruits. There is a pancake maker and it is fun to be able to make pancakes by yourself.

IMG_0629 (46) copy

The breakfast room was cold, so I went out on the terrace and ate. It felt good.

IMG_0629 (48) copy

The taste was not bad, but it depended on what I ate. I think it can not be helped because it is free.

IMG_0629 (50) copy

There is only one store on the ground floor. As product assortment was not very good and price tags were not added, I did not shop here. As there is a convenience store in front of the hotel and on the side of the rotary, I think you can buy things cheaper there.

Facilities in the hotel

IMG_0629 (60) copy

On the 5th floor there was an outdoor pool and a Jacuzzi. There are many chairs by the pool and the Jacuzzi. It was nice to be able to look over the city from the pool.

IMG_0629 (62) copy

It was convenient because towel was prepared near the entrance and there was no need to bring one from the room.

IMG_0629 (63) copy

There were deck chairs separated by curtains at the poolside.

IMG_0629 (61) copy

The pool is open until 20 o’clock, and there were only a few people when we went after 19 o’clock. It was chilly to enter the pool as the temperature went down at night, and most people were in the jacuzzi. It was pleasant to get in the Jacuzzi while looking at the night sky. This time, unfortunately, I could not see sunset from the pool.

IMG_0629 (55) copy

There was a fitness center on the 5th floor.

IMG_0629 (59) copy

Water was also prepared near the entrance of the fitness center.

IMG_0629 (53) copy

There is a TV, so you can exercise while watching TV.

IMG_0629 (56) copy

There was also a game room in the hotel.

IMG_0629 (51) copy

There were game consoles such as Wii U in the game room.

IMG_0629 (58) copy

There was also a laundry room on site, which we used twice during our stay.

IMG_0629 (54) copy

There is a vending machine selling detergent at the entrance. Detergent uses coins, but it costs $ 1.75 each. If you do not have coins, there is also a money change machine, so it’s OK.

IMG_0629 (57) copy

The washing machine and the drier costs 4 dollars. You can use a credit card as well.

Environment around the hotel

You need to walk a little from the city center, but I think the location around the hotel is not bad. There is also an ABC store in many parts of Hawaii, and after a short walk you will find shops such as Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Longs Drag. There is also a trolley stop and a bus stop nearby. If you are going sightseeing, you should use the trolleybus for free and go shopping for the Ala Moana Center. The area around the hotel is quiet unlike the city center. I think it is better to avoid the Ala Wai Canal because it is not safe.

IMG_0629 (67) copy

Across from the entrance on the Karihi side of the hotel, there was an ABC Store.

IMG_0629 (65) copy

There is also a take-out restaurant and a convenience store opposite the hotel.

IMG_0629 (66) copy

In front of the Royal Hawaiian Center. It is about 10 minutes on foot.

IMG_0629 (68) copy

It is about 15 minutes on foot to Waikiki Beach.

Staff and customer base

Everyone was very nice, friendly and helpful. The staff at the breakfast venue asked how my meal was which was very kind.

IMG_0629 (64) copy

The rooms are not so spacious, so I think there were few families staying. As it is a compact hotel, I had an impression that there were many people staying alone, as a couple, or as group of friends.

Access

It was about 20 minutes from the airport to the hotel. The city was relatively close from the airport and I was surprised in a good way. There is no railway in Hawaii, and the only means of transportation is by car, so I think it would be better to use your favorite things such as taxis and car dispatch services. Kuhio Street is so dark, and local people say it is better not to walk alone at night.

IMG_0629 (71) copy

It is written on the official site within 2 kilometers from the Ala Moana Center and the Royal Hawaiian Center. Central part! I did not feel inconvenient because the trolley stop and the stop for the city bus (TheBus) in Hawaii are nearby. Once you arrive, check the nearby stops before had so you can have a smooth plan.

Summary

I think that we made the right decision to stay this hotel. Breakfast is included, so I think it would save if you think of eating out every morning in expensive Hawaii. The staff had a nice feeling, and the customer service was great. When I checked in, the staff at the entrance paid attention to the large luggage. There is also a swimming pool, fitness center and games room. However, if you want to stay at a hotel where you can see the beach or go to the beach all the time, this hotel may not be the hotel for you. Also, I think that it is somewhat cramped when staying for a long time, as the rooms are small. If you want to enjoy Hawaii with a focus on shopping, I think this hotel is enough for just sleeping at night. Overall it is clean, with all the necessary things in place and I think it’s a well-balanced hotel.
