Detailed review & photos “Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Central”

What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception

IMG_1208.jpg (17)

The hotel is right off the highway.

IMG_1208.jpg (11)

A big sign.

IMG_2297 (1)

This is the building with a breakfast hall and reception, so you will need to check-in here first.

IMG_1208.jpg (15)

The entrance is unified with white tiles, walls, and ceilings in stained glass like in churches, and it is a European style building.

IMG_1208.jpg (16)

The front desk was simple.

IMG_1208.jpg (13)

Free coffee in the lobby.

IMG_1208.jpg (21)

A relaxing lobby.

IMG_1208.jpg (12)

At the back of the building with the lobby, there were nine similar-sized buildings.

IMG_1208.jpg (20)

There were numbers on each building.

IMG_1208.jpg (19)

You can park your car right by your building.

IMG_1208.jpg (18)

The building that I was staying at was in the back.

What is the Two Bed Room Two Story Suite like?

IMG_1208(10) copy

Entrance door.

IMG_1208(25) copy

There was a kitchen/dining room on the right, a living room on the left, a bedroom at the back of the living room, and a staircase leading to the second floor.

IMG_1208(20) copy

The kitchen seen from the living room.

IMG_1208(16) copy

There was a sofa and a TV in the living room. It seems that a maximum of 5 people can stay in this room. This sofa can be used as a bed as well. In the closet on the lower floor, sheets were stored.

IMG_1208(1) copy

It is big enough for a large number of people to stay.

IMG_1208(23) copy

The bedroom next to the living room.

IMG_1208(4) copy

The bathroom was on the right side of the bedroom.

IMG_1208 copy

The bed was a big king size bed. This room had a curtain on the door, but when the lights were turned on in the living room, the light came in, but I could sleep well anyway.

IMG_1208(5) copy

There was a TV in the corner with drawers on the bottom.

IMG_1208(3) copy

There is a desk in the bedroom on the first floor.

IMG_1208(27) copy

Stairs leading to the second floor.

IMG_1208(9) copy

The first floor seen from above the stairs.

IMG_1208(11) copy

There is a loft on the second floor. There was a bed on the left, a sink on the right and a bathroom next to it.

IMG_1208(26) copy

There was a queen size bed. In the photo, the ceiling looked low, but it was not as low as I thought.

IMG_1208(21) copy

There were tables on both sides of the bed with a telephone, memo pad, alarm and drawers underneath.

IMG_1208(8) copy

Across the bed is a TV and a closet with a mirror.

Bathroom

IMG_1208(24) copy

This is the bathroom on the first floor. The shower-integrated bathtub, toilet, and sink were in the same room. The shower curtains were clean.

IMG_1208(15) copy

This is the bathroom on the second floor. The bathroom on the second floor also had a bathtub. Water pressure was good and I was able to take a shower comfortably.

IMG_1208(12) copy

On the second floor, the sink was separated from the bathroom, so it was easy to do makeup.

IMG_1208(22) copy

Large and small bar of soap, shampoo and conditioner were prepared on the sink (both on the 1st and 2nd floor bathrooms). In addition, there was a boxed tissue and supplemental toilet paper.

Closet and safe

IMG_1208(8) copy

There were closets on both floors, with an iron and ironing board. There was an additional sheet in the closet next to the entrance on the first floor, so it would be useful for when people sleep on the sofa.

Kitchen

IMG_1208(7) copy

There is a kitchen with a dining table.

IMG_1208(6) copy

A large space with bright lights and a large fridge, oven and kitchen with tableware were very useful.

IMG_1208(2) copy

A microwave and cook-wear.

IMG_1208(18) copy

Dish washer.

IMG_1208(14) copy

You can live here!

IMG_1208(13) copy

The kitchen counter had menus for popcorn and coffee delivery. Snacks were available at check-in.

IMG_1208(17) copy

The fridge was big and had plenty of space to store food.

Restaurants in the hotel

IMG_1208.jpg (22)

There is a restaurant serving breakfast, and guests can have breakfast for free.

IMG_1208.jpg (24)

Breakfast was buffet style.

IMG_1208.jpg (34)

I stayed at this hotel on the weekend when it was crowded, so there were times when some dishes were out of stock.

Facilities in the hotel

IMG_1208.jpg (25)

The hotel had an outdoor pool. It was next to the building with the front desk and was accessible with a key.

IMG_1208.jpg (26)

The pool is open from 6am to 10pm. At night the pool was lit up.

IMG_1208.jpg (27)

The BBQ grill can be used freely.

IMG_1208.jpg (28)

There were sofas by the fire pit, and there was a basketball court next to it. I had the impression that children were basketball, adults were doing BBQ, and small children were swimming in the pool.

Hotel Surroundings

The hotel was by the highway. There was also a gas station and it was really convenient to buy beer at midnight. The area around the hotel is mainly Asian, especially Korean supermarkets and restaurants. There were many students around, and it felt like a safe area.

IMG_1208.jpg (29)

The gas station right in front of the hotel and it was convenient to buy snacks and beer here.

IMG_1208.jpg (30)

KOGI BBQ just across the highway from the hotel was cheap and delicious! Most of the customers were UCSD students.

Access

It was about 20 minutes from San Diego International Airport. When walking across the highway from the hotel, there was a mall with restaurants, and after a light drink in the room at night, it was convenient to come back on foot without calling Uber. The next day I bought a lunch on the other side across the highway, so I did not have any problem going around without a car.

IMG_1208.jpg (31)

A Korean supermarket.

IMG_1208.jpg (32)

A full-fledged Vietnamese food just across the highway, and I did takeout for lunch there. There were many local university students at the restaurant.

IMG_1208.jpg (33)

The hotel shuttle van parked outside the hotel.

Summary

First of all, I was impressed by the size of the room! There is a staircase in the room, the living room is big and the ceiling is high. It made me want to live here! It is located in San Diego, but not as expensive as hotels in downtown, this is the size and quality of this room, which is definitely recommended for those who can drive a car! If you have a car, you can get to downtown easily. The staircase leading to the loft on the second floor was exciting even for an adult, and I went up and down meaninglessly and enjoyed exploring the rooms. Breakfast was free and coffee and tea were available for free all day which was very nice. Also, the location was great for us. My husband took a fishing boat from near the border between San Diego and Mexico and went fishing in Mexico. Because the rooms are big, you can put fishing tools no problem, and there is enough parking space, so it was convenient for us to be able to park our car outside the building.
