I decided to stay at the "Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Rancho Bernardo," because I have stayed here once before, and I liked it very much. This hotel has a calm atmosphere with a large garden. This time, my husband was on a business trip, and this hotel was close to his destination which was very convenient. I was able to enjoy myself in the garden and in the pool while waiting for him.

There was a front desk on the right side immediately after entering the hotel. It was a small front desk.
There was a lobby and a bar at the back with many sofas. There were big windows in the lobby, so it was bright during the day.

What is the One Bedroom Suite like?
Guest room entrance door.
There was a spacious living/dining room at the front. The room its self was a little old, but it was a relaxing space.

There was a TV with storage space across from the sofa.

I could see the garden fro the window.

The bedroom was next to the living room.
I was able to sleep very well on the king size bed.

Bathroom
The sink was separated from the bathroom.
The toilet and shower was in one room. The door to the bathroom was a little rusty.
The water pressure and water drainage was perfectly fine.
The sink was bright and very spacious.
Shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion was a brand called TEA TREE. The quality was average.

Closet and safe
The closet was located right by the entrance. Hangers, baggage rack, laundry bag and so on were prepared inside.
There was also a closet in the bedroom. There were hangers, an iron, an ironing board, and a spare blanket. There was no safe.

Mini bar and cafe
There was a counter with a sink in the living/dining room. There was also a microwave.
On the counter was a coffee maker, regular coffee, de cafe and tea. Paper cups were wrapped up one by one.
Ice bucket and glasses.
There was a fridge but nothing was inside.

“The Bistro” was located on the first floor. Happy hour was during the evening.
I saw people buying coffee and breakfast in the morning.

Facilities in the hotel
The hotel had an outdoor pool and you can enter with your key. Chairs and towels were prepared by the pool. There were also many tables with a parasol.
The pool was lit up at night, and it was very beautiful.
There was a fire pit next to the pool. There were guests who were enjoying drinks and relaxing by the fire pit.
There was a small gym which is open 24 hours a day.
The laundry room was on the first floor.
There was a computer and a printer by the front desk.
There was an ATM and pamphlets at the lobby.
The garden is open for the public.
There was a monument for veterans surrounded by roses, and an American flag. There was a Chinese restaurant at the back of the garden, and they were having a wedding party there.

Environment around the hotel
As it is an area where middle-class people live, the city was kept clean and it was a safe area. I did not see any homeless people around. It was very different from downtown and Old Town.

Staff and customer base
I checked in earlier than my husband, and everything went smoothly. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There were always about four staff at the front desk.
There were many families staying to go sightseeing. Many people come by car.

Access
It takes about 30 minutes to get to the hotel from San Diego International Airport. There is a supermarket within walking distance where you can purchase alcohol and food. Because it is a nice neighborhood, even the supermarkets were clean. There were many restaurants and supermarkets that were open until late, which was very convenient.

Summary
I had a nice stay at this hotel. It is a very clean and large hotel. I enjoyed the beautiful garden as well. Also, it was very nice to be able to upgrade my room to a spacious room. The view from the room was great. I think the room was big enough for a large amount of people. Also, because the living room and the bedroom were separated, I was able to spend a comfortable time in the morning, without having to worry about waking up my husband who was still asleep. If you want to stay at a hotel outside of downtown San Diego, this is the perfect hotel to stay at.
