I decided to stay at the "InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8," because it just opened in 2019 and you can enjoy the view of Minatomirai from the rooms. I was curious to see what kind of service this famous hotel offers. There is also the "InterContinental Yokohama" and "Royal Park Yokohama" in the vicinity, so I was wondering what kind of differentiation was made at this hotel.
What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception
The hotel was modern and stylish.
The entrance was elegant.
Once inside there was an elevator on the first floor and this beautiful spiral staircase leading up to the lobby on the second floor.
There was a front desk right in front of the stairs.
The lobby was stylish and had an oceanic atmosphere, partly because the hotel was located right by the ocean.
You can sit and relax on the chairs.

What is the Club Bay View Double Room like?
Guest room entrance door.
There was a wall which was a mirror and an open style closet at the entrance.
Walking forward, there was a sink next to the closet and a bathroom across from it.
The 46 sqm wide room was spacious and luxurious. The room was based on brown and white, and the atmosphere was suitable for a hotel located next to the sea. It felt as if I was on a cruise ship.
The bed mattress was stiff, but felt nice on my back when I laid down. There were both hard and soft pillows, so you can choose the softness you like. I was able to sleep very comfortably.
There were tables on both sides of the bed with a phone, note set and an alarm clock. In addition to the light switch, there was also an outlet and a USB port which was convenient for charging electric devices.
TV across the bed.
A desk next to the TV.
There was a sunroom with a sofa. Sunlight coming in from the large window was warm and relaxing. I was able to enjoy a nice view of the city while sitting on the sofa.
The room seen from the sunroom.
There is a window between the bathroom and the bedroom, but there is a button that will switch the window to a nontransparent window.
There was nothing blocking the view of the sea.
I chose a room with a bay view, so I could see the ocean right in front of me. I could see the Bay Bridge, so it was lit up at night and had a nice atmosphere.

Bathroom
There was a washing area next to the bathroom.
I was able to stretch my legs and relax in the bathtub.
There was an overhead shower and a hand shower. The water pressure was just right and the temperature could easily be adjusted.
The sink was outside of the bathroom.
The mirror above the sink was lit up, and it was nice and bright. In addition, there were sliding doors between the sink and bedroom, so you can have some privacy when changing clothes.
Agraria shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion and soap were prepared on the sink. There were also amenities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving sets, shower caps, cotton swabs, combs and brushes.

Closet and safe
There was a large open style closet at the entrance. It was easy to use because there was no door. A sufficient number of hangers were provided, and umbrellas and bathrobes were also prepared here. There were also pajamas, clothes brush, shoehorn, slippers and an iron in the drawers.

Mini bar and cafe
There was a wardrobe which looked like a big trunk.
There was a cafe corner and a minibar inside of the trunk. Above the counter was an illy espresso machine, two free bottles of water, a drinking set, cocktail glasses, shaker and a mini bottle of whiskey and vodka (for a fee).
Tea set
Inside of the drawer were various types of cups and glasses, illy’s coffee capsules, two of Singapore’s famous brand TWG tea bags.
Alcohol, soft drinks, nuts and chocolate were prepared (for a fee) in the refrigerator.

Facilities in the hotel
This is the “Club Intercontinental Lounge” on the 5th floor.
Guests can have breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails at this lounge. You can also hold meetings in the meeting rooms.
Breakfast was served at the club lounge. There are Japanese and Western dishes, and I chose Western dishes. There are two types of Western food, one that allows you to choose meat and fish, and the other that allows you to choose eggs. The food was very delicious.
The rooftop had an open space dedicated to guests called “Rooftop 1859.”
There are chairs and sofas on the roof, so you can relax and enjoy the wonderful view of the bay.
I could see the red brick warehouse and the Bay Bridge.
The view at night was exceptionally beautiful.

Hotel Surroundings
The ocean is right by the hotel and there are spots where you can enjoy the city of Yokohama, such as the Red Brick Warehouse, MARINE & WALK YOKOHAMA, Cup Noodle Museum and Cosmo World. The port town at night had a very nice atmosphere. I was able to fully enjoy myself outside of the hotel, but was able to get back to the hotel easily.

Staff and Guests
There were many young staff, but everyone was friendly and cheerful. The pleasant response made my stay more comfortable.
I saw many couples staying at this hotel. There were only a few people with children. Yokohama Minatomirai is a perfect spot to go on a date, so it is convenient hotel for those wanting to visit the bay area.

Access
Minatomirai Station or JR Sakuragicho is the nearest station, but both take more than 15 minutes on foot and there is no limousine bus transfer, so access is by no means good. It was difficult to walk to the hotel with my luggage, so I took a public bus. Since the hotel is annexed to commercial facilities, it was convenient because convenience stores, cafes and restaurants were nearby.

Summary
I had a nice stay at this hotel. I was satisfied with everything about this hotel except for the fact that it was far from the station. This is a great hotel to enjoy the view of the sea and the city of Minato Mirai in Yokohama. In addition, there is a rooftop sitting area, so you can enjoy the scenery from up above. It had a very romantic atmosphere. I used the club lounge this time, and the food was delicious. To be honest, one night wasn’t enough. It is not a cheap hotel, but I would love to stay here again on a special occasion.
