I decided to stay at the "Mielparque Yokohama" because I had plans around Shin Yokohama and the hotels were reasonable around Minato Mirai. The hotel had good access to tourist destinations which was very convenient.

What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception

The hotel was a brown brick building.

The hotel is located along Yamashita Koen Street and is also in front of Marine Tower, so there are cars passing during the day, but it was quiet at night.

There were sofas in the lobby.

What is the Twin Room like?

There was a mirror and a bathroom on the left and an open closet on the right.

The room was clean with a very nice wallpaper. The room looked like it had been renovated, because it was newer than the building itself.

The queen size bed was comfortable to sleep on.

There were pajamas and a survey on the bed.

There was a phone and an alarm on the bedside table, and a flashlight below it. There was also an outlet which was convenient for charging my phone.

There was also a small table with a stool, but overall there was not enough space to put my belongings in the room.

There was an extra wall creating an open space behind it. It was big enough to store my luggage.

I was able to see Yamashita Park bellow.

The bathroom was also renovated, so it was new and clean.

The shower was a removable hand shower. The temperature was easy to adjust.

I was disappointed that the faucet was rusty.

Amenities such as face and hand wash, cups, toothbrush, razors, hairbrushes, and cotton swabs were provided. However, I had trouble making space to put my own belongings.

Closet and safe

There was an open closet at the entrance. There were four hangers and a deodorant spray hanging.

There was also a shoe horn, clothes brush and slippers. There was no safe in the room.

Hotel Surroundings

Marine Tower and Yamashita Park are right in front of the hotel, so it is a very convnient location for sightseeing. It takes only about 20 seconds to the convenience store and a 5 minute walk to Chinatown.

Staff and Guests

The staff were always friendly and kind. As for the guests, I saw a group of young teenage girls and elderly couples checking in. They all seemed to be Japanese.

Access

If you are at Motomachi / Chukagai Station on the Minatomirai Line, you can get to the hotel in about 3 to 5 minutes. It takes about 5 to 8 minutes depending on the exit to Nihon Odori Station. JR Ishikawacho station is about a 10-15 minute walk away.

Summary

The hotel was a little old, but the chandelier and spiral stairs were nice, the room was new and clean and it is a very reasonable price for a hotel located in a convenient area. It is a fun and bright place during the day, near downtown and the sea, but if you take the backroads it may be a little unsafe. If you do not know the land so well you should definitely walk on the main street. Eggs’ N Things, Cinnamon’s, and McDonald’s are about a 30-second walk away, so you can find something to eat easily. I walked through Yamashita Park or the open port road and walked about 20 minutes on foot with Zou-no-hana Park and Red Brick Warehouse. I recommend this hotel for those who want to explore Chinatown and the sea.
