Detailed review & photos “The Jazz Corner Hotel”

What is the appearance of the hotel? Check the entrance and reception

IMG_0019.jpg-1

I took SKY BUS from the airport to the city, and it was a 10-minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel. Once inside, you can enjoy the jazzy atmosphere as shown in the name of the hotel. There was a front desk on the left after entering the hotel.

IMG_0019.jpg-2

There was a bar next to the front desk and I was able to check in in a very calm atmosphere. There were two to three staff at the front desk during the day.

Above the 8th floor is an apartment, so people who are living in the apartment also ride the elevator. If you are a hotel guest, you will have to ride the elevator to 3A and switch elevators to get to the 8th floor.

There was a sign showing the room numbers.

What is the Standard Studio like?

Guest room door.

IMG_0019.jpg-24

There was an intercom.

IMG_0019.jpg (1)

The room was designed with the theme of jazz, with saxophones on the walls, prints of record jackets from famous jazz artists, and jazz music playing from the TV. It was a lively and bright room. The bed was a king size bed with four pillows and was big enough for two adults sleep on. The mattress was just right and I could sleep comfortably.

IMG_0019.jpg-17

There were bedside tables on each side of the bed, and on this table was a music player.

IMG_0019.jpg-19

On the other table was a phone.

IMG_0019.jpg-22

On the wall across the bed was a print of a famous jazz artist’s record jackets.

IMG_0019.jpg-18

There was a sofa next to the window with a wall decoration of a saxophone next to it.

IMG_0019.jpg-26

There was an air conditioner.

IMG_0019.jpg-13

Across the sofa was a TV and a table with two chairs.

IMG_0019.jpg-25

There was a veranda that was cleaned very well. There was a park beside the hotel, and there was a driveway between the park and the hotel, so I were able to enjoy the view of a business district. However, the door to the veranda was heavy and it was hard to slide it.

IMG_0019.jpg-8

My room was on the 9th floor, so the view of the sunset was beautiful.

Bathroom

IMG_0019.jpg-20

The bathroom was every white. There was no bathtub and only a shower room, but it was big enough. There was a glass door to the shower room, but there was a gap, so water leaked a little. The shower was removable, making it easier to wash. Also, the water temperature was easy to adjust.

IMG_0019.jpg-9

Toilet and wash basin. The toilet roll was just passed through the round bar on the side of the washstand, so every time it was used, the toilet roll fell to the floor, which was inconvenient. On top of the sink, shampoo, conditioner, body soap and body cream were prepared. Because it was a cap type, it took time to open and close the cap.

IMG_0019.jpg-23

There was also extra toilet paper.

Closet and safe

IMG_0019.jpg-15

There was a sliding closet with a mirrored door, and there were about 10 hangers, an iron, an ironing board and a safe box inside.

IMG_0019.jpg-10

The safe was located in a high position, so it may be hard to get to for some people.

Kitchen

IMG_0019.jpg-16

There was a kitchen with a sink, gas stove, oven and all the utensils needed to cook. On the kitchen table, there was a TWININGS box with five types of coffee powder and tea bags.

IMG_0019.jpg-14

Microwave.

IMG_0019.jpg-11

There was a big fridge, but there was nothing inside.

IMG_0019.jpg-27

There was a washing machine next to the fridge.

Hotel surroundings

Located in the heart of Melbourne, this hotel is surrounded by federal courts, 7-11 convenience stores, ATMs, cafes and restaurants. Every day in Melbourne, Queen Victoria Market is held in Toto, and it was 5 minutes away on foot from the hotel. In addition, there is a park called Flagstaff Gardens next to the hotel, where you can relax and get away from the city.

Staff and guests

There were two female staff standing at the front desk during the day and they were kind and polite. When the front desk was busy, they were unable to answer the phone, so I had to wait for them to pick up for a long time. I also had to ask the password to the wifi over the phone. I was told that I they would call back, but I didn’t get a call and had to go to the front desk.

IMG_0019.jpg-1 (1)

There were both businessmen and tourists staying. There seemed to be many middle class guests staying.

Access

From the airport, I went got to the city on the SKY BUS, and it was about 10 minutes on foot from the bus stop to the hotel. Although it depends on the time of day, it was a little difficult walking on the sidewalk because it was narrow with many people walking. The city itself was pretty safe. At the Flinders station, Melbourne’s largest station, there were about 30 police patrolling and it felt very serious. There were restaurants, cafes and convenience stores were everywhere.

Summary

I had a nice stay at this hotel. First of all, I often listen to jazz music, so it was nice to be able to stay at a jazz-themed hotel. Secondly, the location of the hotel is excellent. It is convenient to stay for both a business trip and for sightseeing. Finally, the view of Melbourne seen from the balcony was beautiful, because my room was on the 8th floor which is the to floor of the hotel. Especially the sunset from the balcony was the best thing yet.
