I decided to stay at the "Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf," because it was a nice and convenient hotel. I was looking for a hotel in North Beach near Fisherman's Wharf and Lombard Street in the tourist area and there are many famous restaurants and shops nearby. This was a perfect hotel for sightseeing.

There was a fireplace with a sofa at the entrance.

The lobby was very nice and big.
There were many sofas to sit on.
There were tables where people were using their laptops.
There was a bar in the lobby.
I had to wait in line to check in for about 5 to 10 minutes. It was crowded, but the staff were very polite when checking people in.

What is the Deluxe King Room like?
Guest room entrance door
There was a bathroom on the left and a full length mirror on the right.
The rooms were relatively big and it was clean. However, I could hear people having parties and shouting outside. Also, the footsteps of people staying above me were loud as well.
The bed was a spacious king size bed. It was very comfortable to sleep on.
There was a telephone and alarm clock on the two beside tables. Also, there were outlets on both sides, which was convenient for charging my devices.

There was a small desk with a phone and memo pad next to the TV.
There was an “L” shaped sofa at the back of the room which was comfortable to lay on.

There was a window with a red windowsill. However, since it was a room on the edge of the first floor, the view was only of the road and people passing by. The room was bright when it was sunny, but I kept the curtains closed for privacy.

Bathroom
The shower and bathtub were together and the bathtub was very shallow.
The shower was very easy to use and the water pressure was strong.
The toilet was right next to the door making it hard to get in and out.
Sink and closet
There was plenty of space to put my belongings on the counter.
Hand soap and tissue
Shampoo, conditioner and body soap were prepared on the counter. There was also a toothbrush and toothpaste. There were no bathrobes or pajamas, so you should bring your own.
There were towels prepared under the sink.

Closet and safe
The closet was next to the sink. However, I was worried that the clothes might get damp because it was close to the bathroom.
There was an iron, ironing board and plenty of hangers.
The safe was in the cabinet under the TV.

It was very easy to make coffee.

There were many staff working and took my empty plate right away.

Hotel Surroundings
The hotel is located within a few minutes walk to “Fisherman’s Wharf,” and other popular tourist destinations. Public transportation such as buses, cable cars and trains were easy to ride, making it convenient for sightseeing in the city. However, the roads were sometimes dirty and smelled like marijuana. It was a safe during the day, but it is best to avoid walking around late at night.

Staff and Guests
Both the staff at the breakfast venue and the front desk were very kind. Especially the staff working at the breakfast venue worked fast and were attentive.
There were young couples, families and many other groups of guests staying. The hotel is located near popular tourist destinations, so there seemed to be tourists visiting from all over the world. It was very lively at the lobby.

Access
I had to take the BART train and bus from San Francisco International Airport to the hotel. First, take a BART (train) from the airport to Powell Street Station in San Francisco (about 20 minutes) and then a 10 minute bus ride to the bus stop, which is a few minutes walk from the hotel. There are many restaurants and supermarkets within a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. It is safe during the day, but it is best to avoid walking around at night. It is also about a 3 minute walk to supermarkets (Trader Joe’s, Safeway) where you can buy souvenirs. “Fisherman’s Wharf” was also within a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The cable car station is nearby as well, so you can easily get to other sightseeing spots such as the “Union Square.”

Summary
I had a nice to stay at this hotel. I especially liked the fact that it was within walking distance to the “Fisherman’s Wharf” and supermarkets selling souvenirs. It was very convenient that Trader Joe’s, Safeway and CVS were within waling distance. The hotel also had easy access to the airport. However, I was a little disappointed about noise coming in to the room from the outside and footsteps on the upper floor. As for the service of the hotel, breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and I had a very comfortable stay.
