I chose “Doubletree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly,” because it was a convenient venue for the tournament and sightseeing to see Manchester United matches. I thought it was convenient for sightseeing, because it was easy to access from the airport, and because it was just a short walk from the train and tram station.

The hotel was a beautiful building.
There is a big sign on the wall.

The lobby was very neat and clean.
The front desk was small but compact. I was able to check-in without having to wait in line.
You will need to print out the tour tickets, and I asked where I can print them out and the staff told me that I can use the printer next to the front desk for free.

What is the Queen Deluxe Room like?
Guest room entrance door.
I was able to spend a comfortable time in the room. It was nice that the room was cleaned everyday.
The bed was very comfortable and just the right size for two people to sleep together. The pillow was soft and flat which suited my taste.
There is a TV across the bed.
Under the TV is a desk and a chair.
Next to the bed was a table and a chair.

There was a big window in the room.
It was not a resort, so it was not a hotel where I wanted to sit on the balcony and relax. The view from the window was not particularly wonderful, but I was not disappointed either.
Because it is a hotel in the city, there are other hotels across this hotel.

Bathroom
There was a shower in the bathroom. The door of the shower room was tight, and it was nice that water did not leak outside. The bathroom did not get foggy, because the ventilation worked well. The soap rack was not big enough, so I had to put soap on the floor.

There was an outlet on the wall next to the sink.
There was a bathroom hanging on the door.
There were towels prepared on a rack.
Amenities were provided on a shelf above the toilet. Amenities included shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, mouthwash, cotton and swab set, shower cap, soapy hand soap and body soap. Amenity was only replenished by one set even if we stayed together. The soap smelled very nice, but there was only one set prepared for each amenity.

Closet and safe
There is a closet at the back of the room. The door was a full length mirror.
The size was a little small, but it was enough space for two people to fit clothes for five days. It may be a little small for people staying a little longer.
There was a safe in the closet as well.

Mini bar and cafe
There is a cafe corner next to the closet with a Nespresso machine.
There were different flavors of coffee prepared everyday.
There was also an electric kettle, and two sets of three types of tea each day, two sets of instant coffee, two sets of regular coffee and decaf coffee, and two types of hot chocolate.
There was a fridge.
Inside the fridge were two bottles of water. New bottles were added everyday.

Restaurants in the hotel
The hotel has a bar called “Store Street.” I got a free drink voucher for 5 days at the hotel bar, so I went to drink at night every day.

Hotel surroundings
It felt very safe around the hotel, so I was able to go out for drinks at night. There were plenty of affordable bars and restaurants around the nearest tram station, Manchester Piccadilly. There are many historic buildings in the area, but it is often only a casual restaurant. There were small supermarkets and convenience stores around, so it was convenient to buy drinks.

Staff and customer base
The staff responded very patiently. However, when I asked for more face towels, the staff did not come right away and I had to call again. The second time I called, the staff was not very kind which made me feel a little uncomfortable.
In the hotel, I often saw tourists wearing soccer jerseys to watch the game. There were also many office workers and businessmen in suits having a meeting at the bar.

Access
Access from the airport was very easy which was about 20 minutes by train. Because it was about 5 minutes on foot from the station, it was a distance that is not a problem to walk even with suitcases. There seems to be no hotel shuttle bus from the airport. A tram would be more convenient than a train for short-distance travel. It was about 20 minutes by tram to Manchester United’s home stadium and about 30 minutes to Manchester City’s home stadium. The tram station was just a short walk away.

Summary
I had a nice stay at this hotel. It was nice that the access from the airport was easy. Also, the hotel service was good and I was able to spend a comfortable time in the hotel. I was happy that I was able to get free drinks at the bar for 5 days. I could order drinks without ordering food at the bar, so I was able to drink lightly and return to the room, or I could return to the room with a drink, so I was able to relax in the room as well. The only disappointing thins was that there was no laundry room. Since I moved to this hotel after staying in Germany, dirty laundry were piled up and we wanted to wash them right away. It would have been better if there was a laundry room for guests staying for a long period of time.
