I decided to stay at the "Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel," because it is a clean and safe hotel with good reviews. I liked the beds and the pool in the pictures. It t was my first time in Bali, so I decided that this hotel in Kuta is convenient and easy for shopping.

I was surprised at how big the hotel was.
There was a roof at the entrance convenient for rainy days.

What is the Deluxe Room like?
Guest room entrance door.
There was a mirror on the right and a bathroom on the left.
The room was big enough to open up suitcases on the floor. However, it was a little dark even with the lights turned on. I sprayed insect repelent in the room, but got bit by a mosquito on the second day. It is best to watch out for bugs.
The bed was soft and comfortable to sleep on.
There was an alarm clock and phone on the bedside table.
TV across the bed.
There was a luggage stand next to the desk.
Table and two chairs.
There was a veranda with plenty of space to relax.
There were two chairs prepared on the veranda.
My room was not facing the ocean, but the courted was peaceful and quiet.

The bathroom had a shower.
The door to the shower room did not close completely, so if you are not careful water will splash on to the floor.

Amenities were prepared on the sink counter. There was soap, comb, etc.
There were also two bottles of water prepared. You cannot drink tap water in Bali, so it was very convenient.
There was a hair dyer, but the wind was weak.

Closet and safe
The closet was next to the bathroom.
There was a bathrobe, umbrella and a safe inside.
I was told by my tour guid to make sure to use the safe, but it did not open.

There was an electric kettle, cups, glasses, instant coffee and tea prepared on the desk.
There was also a fridge with drinks inside.

Restaurants and shops in the hotel
There were several restaurants and bars in the hotel.
I had breakfast at “The Pond Restaurant.”
They offered buffet-style breakfast. There were a variety of dishes to pick from. They even had a gluten-free menu.

There were also seats on the terrace.
Food was very delicious.
A restaurant called “LA CUCINA.”
It was an Italian restaurant serving pizza, pasta, meat and seafood.
There was a “teppanyaki noodle restaurant” on the beach side. Here, you can enjoy delicious Japanese food such as teppanyaki, sushi and sashimi.
“Sunset Lounge” in the lobby.
They were serving coffee, tea, cocktails and light meals.

Facilities in the hotel
There was an outdoor pool in the hotel with a pool-side bar. The bar is open until 22:00, so you can spend a relaxing time by the pool.

Free towels rental next to the pool.
A courtyard with a kids’ playground.
The courted was being taken care of and was very beautiful. I enjoyed taking pictures and even saw a couple of squirrels running around.
Tour desk.
The hotel faces the Kuta Beach. You can walk straight to the beach from the pool. However, the waves were rough and it was not a sandy beach. You cannot play in the water, but you can relax by the beach instead.

Hotel Surroundings
I had no problems during the day, but I was afraid to walk around the hotel after sun set. There were many locals hanging out in front of the convenience store and I avoided walking outside at night and ended up buying drinks at the hotel souvenir shop.

Staff and Guests
The staff always greeted me in the hotel. They were very friendly and the security staff at the entrance were very kind as well. You can check-in at the counter, but check-out is done individually.
There were not many families with children at the hotel during my stay, but the reviews said that it is a hotel popular with families.

Access
There are not many lights on the streets, and it was congested. There is a hotel bus going between the airport and the hotel. There are many shops around the hotel, but if you are walking the taxi drivers will honk at you to ask if you need a ride.

Summary
I had a nice stay at this hotel. The hotel is located in the middle of Kuta, but it was quiet and safe. Also, I was not expecting much for breakfast, but
there were a verity of dishes to pick from and I had a very nice meal. It was raining hard at night, but the courtyard and pool were cleaned up very nicely in the morning, so I was able to spend a pleasant time outside. I was away from the hotel most of my stay, but I would love to spend more time at the hotel next time.
