I decided to stay at the “Residence in San Juan Capistrano,” because I was planning to go to Dana Point for a live music concert and this hotel was within my budget. I also thought that it was convenient that the hotel was right near the beach.

There was a parking lot in front of the hotel. It was a retro style building.

There were sofas in the lobby.
There was also a patio hidden at the back of the lobby. There was a heater next to the tables.
There was a sign explaining the history of this hotel.

What is the One Bedroom Suite like?
Guest room entrance door
There was a kitchen and bathroom on the left, a big sofa in the foreground and a bedroom at the back. It was a very large room.
The king size bed was very big and comfortable to sleep on.
There was a TV at the foot of the bed and a desk and sofa in the back.
Living room
The sofa was “L” shaped with plenty of space to lay down and relax.
Next to the TV was a desk facing the window. There were outlets on the desk.

There were two windows in the room.
I could see the pool and golf course billow and the cityscape. The hotel was located on a hill. There was a Costco nearby and I could see the parking lot. It was very quiet and I saw some of people enjoying their breakfast by the pool. Also, Amtrak passed by the hotel and I could hear the train honking once in a while.

Bathroom
There was a sink at the front and a shower room and toilet at the back.
The shower room had a glass door. Water pressure and temperature were just right. There was a tray to put my belongings which was convenient.
The sink was spacious.
There was TEA TREE shampoo, conditioner, body soap, bar of soap and makeup remover on the sink.

Closet and safe
There was a closet across the sink with a mirror on the sliding door.
Extra sheets, iron and an ironing were prepared inside.

Kitchen
There was a kitchen.
There was a completed set of tableware, cutlery, and cooking utensils prepared in the drawers and cabinets. There was also a drip coffee maker on the counter.
RAINFOREST regular coffee, LIPTON tea, sugar, creamer, salt and pepper were also prepared on the dining table.
There was nothing inside the fridge, but there was plenty of space to store what I bought at the store.

Restaurants and shops in the hotel
There were no restaurants in the hotel, but they were serving breakfast for free. I had breakfast at around 7:00, but it was already crowded by the time I got there.
There were people eating on the sofa at the lobby.
Breakfast was served buffet style.
Sausages and scrambled egg.
Yogurt, fruit, spinach, hard boiled eggs, salsa and so on.
There was a small shop next to the front desk selling water, soda, snacks and so on.

There was an outdoor pool that you can only enter with your room key.
There was also a Jacuzzi next to the pool.
Putt putt golf

There was a tennis court next to the BBQ space.
A gym on the 1st floor.
There was a laundry room with plenty of washing machines and driers. It only cost $3.

Hotel Surroundings
This area is famous for retired people to spend a relaxing time. It is safe with many wealthy people living in the neighborhood. Although the area around the hotel is not in the countryside, it was still very quiet. It may have been because the hotel is built on a hill.
There was a drug store 2 minutes away from the hotel.
Doheny Beach right near the beach. The water is shallow, so it is perfect for kids to play in.

Staff and Guests
The staff were friendly and greeted me every time I passed by the front desk. I saw many people staying on a vacation. Many of them seemed to be Americans. I also saw many families staying. This area is not a popular tourist destination, so it is perfect for those wanting to spend a relaxing time on the beach.

Access
The hotel is near the airport. It was close to the Pacific Coast Highway, and just off the exit of the highway that connects Los Angeles to San Diego, so access by car was super convenient. There was a Mexican restaurant and Costco near the hotel, so it was very convenient. It only cost $10 to get to the nearest city with many restaurants. I ordered takeout at a popular taco restaurant.

Summary
I have stayed at a Residence Inn in a different location before, but this Inn had the most interesting atmosphere and was very relaxing as well. The fancy lobby, a room with a kitchen, I enjoyed everything about the hotel. Even though it was packed, I was still able to spend a quiet time in my room. The beach near the hotel had live music playing and I was able to spend a very peaceful time.
