The room was smaller than I had imagined and it was average in size.

Bathroom

IMG_0802.jpg (30)

The sink was located outside the bathroom.

IMG_0802.jpg (35)

There were towels prepared above the toilet. The wall design was unusual.

IMG_0802.jpg (45)

The shower head was fixed on the wall. The water pressure was just right.

IMG_0802.jpg (19)

Above the bathtub, AVEDA shampoo, conditioner and soap were prepared. AVEDA is often prepared in Marriott hotels.

IMG_0802.jpg (36)

Toilet.

IMG_0802.jpg (22)

The sink was spacious and I asked for a microwave and put it on the sink, but there was still enough space.

IMG_0802.jpg (24)

Soap and body lotion was prepared on the sink. I liked the smell of the body lotion and took it back home with me.

Closet and safe

IMG_0802.jpg (39)

There was a closet with enough space in the bathroom. There were also partition cabinets in the closet, so I was able to put in a lot of luggage, which was nice because I was staying for a long time.

IMG_0802.jpg (34)

The safe was under the TV.

Mini bar and cafe

IMG_0802.jpg (42)

A coffee maker and two complimentary waters were prepared next to the TV.

IMG_0802.jpg (31)

Coffee and tea were all in a nice box. There were wrapped paper cups as well. This time, I had club lounge access, so I was able to have coffee there, so I did not have any in the room.

IMG_0802.jpg (46)

There were glasses as well.

IMG_0802.jpg (40)

There was a fridge under the TV, but there was nothing inside.

Restaurants and shops in the hotel

IMG_0802.jpg (51)

There was a restaurant behind of the front desk called “Marston’s cafe” which was open only for breakfast.

IMG_0802.jpg (50)

There was a large open bar called “Dust Cutter” in front of the reception area. It was always busy. The interior of the bar was very cool.

IMG_0802.jpg (52)

There was a “Starbucks” on the first floor.

IMG_0802.jpg (49)

There were rare Phoenix modeled cups.

IMG_0802.jpg (53)

There was a shop selling gift and snacks. I rarely saw people inside, because it was located in a place that is unnoticeable.

IMG_0802.jpg (54)

There were many cute gifts, and it was not overly priced.

Club lounge "Elevate"

IMG_0802.jpg (55)

I was able to use the club lounge “Elevate” because I was a senior Marriott member. It was located past the “Marston’s cafe.”

IMG_0802.jpg (57)

I always ate at the club lounge. The menu was high quality.

Facilities in the hotel

IMG_0802.jpg (70)

On the 5th floor was an outdoor pool accessible with your key. The pool is open from 6 am to 10 pm. During my stay, I did not see any children swimming in the pool. There were no staff around. Food and drinks could be ordered from the restaurant, and there was a phone and a menu on the wall outside the pool.

IMG_0802.jpg (61)

The pool was lit up at night and it was beautiful.

IMG_0802.jpg (60)

There is a courtyard on the other side of the pool, and there was a beer pong board. There was also a smoking area with an ashtray stand.

IMG_0802.jpg (62)

I big chess board.

IMG_0802.jpg (63)

There was a gym on the 5th floor as well. It was very clean and well maintained.

IMG_0802.jpg (64)

There was a ball room. You can hold events and meetings here.

IMG_0802.jpg (65)

A FedEx office in the hotel.

IMG_0802.jpg (66)

There was an ATM on the first floor.

Environment around the hotel

The area around the hotel is safe because there are only high class hotels around, and it is also an office district, so there were many business people walking round.  There were many tall buildings, which was a little overwhelming. I think it’s best to avoid walking alone at night.

Staff and customer base

The staff was kind and gave me a good impression. However, since the hotel could not upgrade my room on the first day because they were sold out, I made a request at the front desk again the next day, but they told me that it was not possible without an apology. I was a little disappointed. Other than that, they made a new key for me when I lost my key, and also sent a repair man for the air conditioner right away.

IMG_0802.jpg (3)

Most of the guests were staying for business. Due to the large baseball tournament being held, there were many people staying for the game this time. The hotel itself was sold out all day. Most of the people were well-dressed.

Access

There was an airport close enough to see the planes taking off from the room. In fact, many pilots were staying at the hotel as well. It was $10 Uber from the airport to the hotel. I saw some gypsy, but I thought that overall security was not bad. I went to the drugstore CVS to buy alcohol and snacks. It was about 5 minutes on foot. Busses were running frequently, and the station was clean, and I had the impression of downtown Los Angeles was not crowded. Even though I was walking around the city, cold mist was coming out of the entrance of the bar, so I was able to stay cool.

Summary

Personally, this could be the best hotel in Arizona. I think that it is a high value-added hotel with high rank among the hotels of the Marriott system. I was looking for a hotel that I can go to the gym and the swimming pool. I was expecting an upgrade by using the Marriott member’s class, but the I was not able to this time. I enjoyed the open bar on first floor. Most of the people I saw around the hotel seemed elite, so I enjoyed the calm atmosphere. I would definitely like to stay here again if I have the chance to. The club lounge was especially amazing! This hotel is perfect for business travelers who want to stay at a upper class hotel.
