I decided to stay at the "Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa," because my parents were visiting from Hawaii and I was hoping to spend a relaxing Thanksgiving with them. I was looking for a good hotel from Orange County, Huntington Beach to Newport Beach. The view was nice from the rooms and the price was reasonable.

There was a round about at the entrance with a roof. A bellboy helped us with our luggage.
The lobby had big windows with a view of the golf course and the ocean.

There were sofas in the lobby.
There was an area with no roof, so it was wet.
In the middle of the area with no roof was a fountain.
I was staying in a penthouse which was on the top floor.

What is the Prudential Suite Direct Ocean View like?
Guest room entrance door
There was a bar right next to the entrance.
There was an ice pale on the counter. I was able to have my own bar which I enjoyed very much.
There was plenty of empty space under the counter.
There was a living room at the foreground. Our room was facing the ocean and the view was very nice. There was also a large sofa that turns into a sofa and I slept here.

There was a big bedroom next to the living room.
The bed was a king size bed. My parents did not wakeup until late in the morning and told me that it was very comfortable to sleep on.
There was a TV and desk across the bed.
There was storage space under this TV as well.

There was a balcony with a view of Newport Beach and Catalina Island in a far distance.
There was a table and two chairs on the balcony.
I could see the pool and an area for wedding ceremonies bellow.
It was raining at first, but it stopped and I was able to enjoy the sunset.

There was a shower room in the bathroom.
The shower was a removable hand shower. The water pressure and temperature were just right.

There was a bar of soap, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and body lotion labeled “this works” on the sink. There were only one of each, so I had to ask for extra.

Closet and safe
There were two closets in the bedroom. There was plenty of space to store my belongings in both the closet and in the room itself.
Inside the closet were bathrobes, iron, ironing board, baggage racks, hair dryer and extra pillows.

Mini bar and cafe
There was a cafe corner in the bedroom next to the TV.
There was a coffee machine, regular coffee, tea and two complimentary bottles of water.
There was a fridge, but nothing was inside.

Restaurants and shops in the hotel
I had breakfast at “Hook & Spear.”
It was a buffet, but you can also order food.
If you are a member of Marriott, you can have free breakfast, so the staff recommended that I order two dishes from the menu and the other two pick dishes from the buffet and we all share.
Vegetarian section.
Omelet made on the spot.
A cute decoration.
Eggs Benedict that was on the menu.
There were plenty of dishes to pick from and I was very satisfied with my breakfast.
“The Lounge at Hook & Spear”
I had a glass of wine at the lounge.
There was also a Starbucks in the hotel.
There was a gift shop selling souvenirs at a reasonable price.
The quality of the souvenirs were good.
They were also selling wine.

There was an outdoor pool, but it was closed due to bad weather.
The pool is open from 7am to 10pm. There was also a Jacuzzi next to the pool.
There was a gym open 24 hours a day. It was rainy, so it was very crowded.

Hotel Surroundings
The hotel was located in a safe and beautiful area. I was able to stay at ease. The beach is right by the hotel, but it is also a business district, so it was quiet during holiday season. It was convenient because there was a big shopping center across the hotel.

Staff and Guests
The staff were very professional and fast working. I was very impressed. The waitresses working at the restaurant seemed to be enjoy their work and were very kind as well.
Most people stay at home during Thanksgiving, so the hotel was very empty. I went to the bar at night and met a couple of pilots and had a nice chat with them. I also saw people staying on a business trip, staying as a family and so on.

Access
It is bout 15 minutes from John Way (Orange County). Fashion Island, which was right across the hotel, had many shops and even a food court. There was also a Starbucks in the hotel which was very convenient.

Summary
I was very happy to be able to stay a nice hotel for Thanksgiving. The kind staff made our stay even better. I was able to see the beautiful sunset while checking in, enjoy a delicious breakfast and everything was very satisfying. The pool and golf course were closed due to bad weather, but I had a very nice stay and I would love to stay at this hotel again.
